Steering rack going bad?!

08 bmw m3, 130k miles. I've had steering wheel issues for last year and a half. Mainly had a vibration on the freeway. Went through all the steps... new tires, 2 new front rims, and balance of tires over and over. Solved issue by 75%. But still getting some steering wheel shake on freeway at different times. Feels like there's slight "play" in wheel also.

Today started to hear a hollow whiny sound when I turn the wheel on lower speeds. And also noticed the steering wheel feels very heavy when I turn the wheel.

If I had to answer, I would say I need a new steering rack...

Any feedback will help

What are all the things you've done to troubleshoot or fix?

Fresh power steering fluid?
Checked for leaks on the rack or nearby?
