ihyln- the stitching pattern looks different on the new wheel vs. the old wheel. is that just illusion?

No illusion, it is different. I will see if I can take a blue and red dye to it at least.

Great work ihyln for the big help for all of us..
Just some questions during the installation, for installing on to a DCT m3, does it requires some kind of re-wiring or modifications from the original?

I'm feeling very excited to install this wheel to my car as well!

Fantastic. If you can safely video a shift at redline and some g values during cornering I'm sure many of us would love to see those.

-Is the wheel diameter and thickness the same as stock?
-What is with all the flickering lights in vids 2 and 3?
-Can anyone else with an alcantara steering wheel comment on the longevity/durability of the material?

The instructions do state that you will have to move pins from the old harness into the new one. It's a straight 1 to 1 swap (pin 1 from old harness into pin 1 of new harness). Not a big deal at all. However, the instructions to put the power and ground into the OBD port are invalid because it doesn't pull enough amps. Like I said, the instructions were about 75% correct for the M3.

Taking a video of that will be a tall order so I will see if I can get a friend to help.

I think the wheel is a hair bigger in diameter and quite honestly I was worried about this but didn't notice a difference once it was on.
Flickering lights means its time to shift. It seemed odd because I had the RPM configuration set at 1000 rpm so once it reaches that rpm it flashes, the flickering is a weird anomaly from the video.

Thanks again!! For the update. I have another question about the DCT paddle.

How did u attach it to the wheel? Did you just took off the paddle of the DCT and replace the steptronic ones? is it bolt on? or requires mod as well?

Will you mind to take a picture on the side showing DCT attaching to the wheel from behind?

Thanks again!

I thought I read somewhere that the shift light rev limit can be programmed by the user. Is that correct?

The paddles are screwed in by a torx screw to the actual wheel itself. Just unscrew it and unplug it from the cover panel. It carries over to the new wheel easily. I'll take a picture later today since my car is in for 1200 mile service.

Looks OK, wish it had the tri color stitching.

Why couldn't BMW add this to the internal trip computer of the M3?

Then they couldn't bilk us out of another $800 With this and blacklines I'm already over 1k in just cosmetic mods, not counting the clearbra which would make it almost 2k. The wheel is definitely worth it if you are planning to track your car, though.

good to hear. i considered (am considering it) as a potential mod, but am a bit worried about the looks. guess we'll have to wait for more pics or the chance to see it IRL

As I was taking it over to a dealer today a guy who was stopped at a light with me asked me to pull over to take a look at the wheel. He said he saw the LCD on the wheel and wanted to know more. He didn't look like a carjacker so I obliged.

You can! You just can not get there with no downforce. Get up over 100 mph and you will have enough downforce to get well over 1g.
