Howdy Y'all
Hello All. I'm new to this board too, and I liked the "Aloha" thread, so I'm jumping on board with my own intro from here in Texas.
The M3 has been my dream car since I can remember (my best buddy in high school had moved here from Germany... which was where I first got the notion). I was also a huge fan of Mad Max. Those fast 4-door "Interceptors", while not M3's, were my version of a magic carpet. I've thought a lot about M3 over the past 20+ years, on and off really, because the price was so far out of reach it was always more of a fantasy and not a possibility. Then, about 3 weeks ago, just browsing, clicking, and dreaming on the local BMW dealer's used site, I found THE car. MY car. MY M3. I've got some strong preferences in a car: 1. standard transmission 2. sedan 3. silver or grey paint 4. black leather interior 5. I also love all the "creature comforts" like heated seats (even though I'm a Texan) If you had seen my Mazda3 you'd see that 100% of the specs line up as above. I purchased it new in 2006 so I could select exactly the car I wanted (in Mazda form). It was my well respected ride for the last 7 years, and I was sad to let it go. I hope it found a good home. But back to surfing the web and stumbling on to the 2008 M3 sedan. There it was! With checks in 100% of all the boxes, and I could actually afford it. With only 22k miles I had to see it in person. My wife accompanied me to the test drive, and without protest because she loves me and she knows this is my dream. The M3 is in FABULOUS condition (it was obviously pre-loved) and so it found a new home in my garage that very same night. Now I have the true joy of driving it, and learning all the functions and features I didn't even know it had, but I bought it anyway. With that: Here are some of my favorite quotes about the 2008 M3 sedan. What’s a family car? Our opinions might differ from those of other select publications. Four doors: good. Four doors with 414 horsepower: great! See? That’s where we lose the Ladies’ Home Journal readers every time. -Car and Driver- thankfully the EPA requires only city and highway ratings, and not a third classification for "constant abuse" -Motive- the M3 sedan [is] a wolf in wolf’s clothing. -Car and Driver- The M3’s steering wheel is the same diameter as my wife’s wrist, and just as pleasing to hold. -The Truth About Cars- |

I'm in Oklahoma, but it's uncanny how much of your story is just like mine. My '05 Mazda3 was black and a hatchback - only tough thing about the M3 is getting used to the extra 1000 pounds! Enjoy the new beast.
