That's a pretty significant portion of the powerband. Basically handicapping 1/4 of the rev range.

Thanks for pointing this put Ezio - strange indeed.

How does this work in a practical setting like a canyon run or auto cross situation? Once you hit redline 8 times the car only goes to 6250 for the next 15 seconds?

Does reaching redline once equate to one second? Typically no one stays at redline for very long, you get there and upshift quickly. However, it seems that Ford is saying the range b/w 6250 and 8k is "redline?"

Cliff notes: will this really be an impediment?

I read it that after 8 seconds between 6250-8250 rpm that the hard redline falls back to 6250 rpm for 15 seconds or until engine speed falls below 5000 rpm.

Whether it is really a big deal or not will most likely depend on where the engine makes peak power and the gearing. I'm guessing that the engine in the GT350 makes peak power significantly below the 8250 rpm redline, so it probably won't be a huge deal. Still seems funny to me for this type of car.

More that between 6250 and 8000 is a "yellow" zone. You can get up there but not for too long. In practial terms I don't think it will matter that much. Even with track use, most people will keep it humming at around 5-6k most of the time. It will only pop up during acceleration and shifts.

That info is old and not valid. It has been removed from the literature

Are these things for sale already?

I had an unrecognizable mustang pull up beside me on the freeway and he was obviously showing off his engine revving it and accelerating. It sounded pretty freakin good and exotic. Could it have been a GT350? It was night time and I couldn't make out the exact model of the car.

A few of them are out there.

I brought my friend to pick his up on Saturday. Absolutely amazing car in person. And the sound is out of this world.

I just got off the phone with a dealer, I may pull the trigger on a base model, the deal is good!! as cheap as I can get it. Trying to keep my e92 and own this bad boy next to it. I test drove this car at Limerock and it's bananas, everything about it is hands down surreal.

Almost all of them are at least 5K ADM with some going up to 20K. R's are going for 25K ADM.

I have been considering it, maybe down the road. A friend has a GT350 w/tech pack, and it's an amazing car. Such a tease being around it just about every weekend!

How do you feel about the interior?

The interior is nice to look at, but not at the same level as even the E92 M3. The other issue I have with the S550 is it is a big car. It has a smaller wheelbase than the E92 yet it is 10" longer and it looks like it. The E92 is much more compact and svelte. Never thought I would say that about an E92 M3.

Dave
S550 is (vs 2011+ E92 M3):

6.5" longer
1.2" lower*
3.4" wider*
1.6" shorter wheelbase

To me its lower and wider stance is more prominent than the 6.5" longer length when parked next to my E90 M3.
