Except that the Z06 time was done by a pro and a team from GM whereas the 918 time was done by an amateur journalist. Not comparable at all.

Just the CF monocoque is probably worth more than the Z06 itself. So the point of price is never really valid considering many factors. I mean I'm sure the Z06 will come close to the P1 or LaFerrari with a pro driver vs a journalist too...doesnt mean those cars aren't worth their price. I never said the Z06 wasn't a great accomplishment...but it still can't touch a viper based on what's been seen thus far... I don't currently own a Porsche...but have owned several and am looking right now at buying another, but when you have a daughter who is in a car seat it makes it tough to drive a 911...or cayman S. It's a valid point. Not to take away the outstanding performance of the new Z06/07 but comparing a professionally driven run against a journalist run is apples and oranges. The Z06 won't keep up with a 918 when all things are equal. Again, the corvette is very impressive (sans the heat issues).

Wow, your post just gave me a reality check. Almost EVERY SINGLE high performance car out there is forced induction. Its almost sad... By 2020 all consumer sports cars will most likely be forced induction

Sign of the times with increasing emissions regulations, but it's the only way to maintain the same level of performance that people are accustomed to with sports/performance cars.
