From what I've eard, even the 2014 Shelby GT500 is faster then the Hellcat, I can't see how the lighter Z06 would'nt beat it to, strange!

yes 50hp difference at the crank will yield about 50whp difference also?

Something doesn't add up... there is a 900 lb difference in weight between the cars. My guess is that the C7 vette is manual and the driver has no idea what he is doing.

That's totally staged. Even with a mediocre driver the z06 should eat that guy. Same torque but the z06 is way lighter and by a lot, better transmission. This had to be staged or the hellcat was modified.

Also remeber the hellcat is under-rated. 640-650rwhp stock is closer to 735-745bhp (for the record the lowest I've seen is 722bhp). So it's closer to 85-90hp(72bhp on the low side) advantage for the hellcat. Also that hellcat was an auto and the ratios are tight and keeps it in the engines sweet spot. A budy of mine Dyno his and it made 643rwhp. He then yanked the filter and it picked up 33rwhp! Ironically that means without the filter it made 777bhp...hellcat 777hp. The irony of it. Lol. The hellcat is "hella-under-rated". Guys are thinking with just a tune, pulley and intake it's going to crest 800rwhp. Last edited by Disturbed; 01-07-2015 at 10:01 PM.. |

That baby blower is too small. I had such huge hopes for the new Z. I wanted it to come out and hand the Viper it's ass...badly. I think it took a little tweeking to get the 5th Gen Viper right. Remeber in 2013 it gots it's ass handed to it at Laguna by the ZR1 then 2 months later they came back with the "TA" (nothing more than suspension tweeks mostly and a splitter/spoiler) and it took the lap record back using the same POS corsa tires. I think MT had put on some MPSS and dropped 2sec or something like that. When the ACR comes (and it will not be long 2016 I think) it's going to be a monster on track. Rumor too of a supercharged Viper...I hope they do. It's crazy that the platform is still so competitive because it's only been evolutional changes. The frame and brakes are still basically the same from 2003 and the engines only real steps forward has been the heads and veriable valve timing in 2008. They picked up 40hp from an intake mani minor cam and tune tweek. The huge step forward really has been the body and interior for 2013...it's light years ahead of the earlier cars (who's interior and exterior was the same from 2003-2010....but was only a bit better than the interior from 1996-2002). But you have to give the viper credit for such little steps forward the difference between a 2003 and 2013 they almost are not the same car. The 2013 is what i think the 08-10 should have been and it may have been if it was for MB Metting with chrysler and the economy crash. |

Don't get why everyone is so obsessed with straight line performance, don't see any one commenting on the fact that the Z07 bested the 918 around VIR by 1.6 sec. The corvette was never meant to be a drag car it was always made to be a track car for the road.

Doesn't the Hellcat hit the gas before the Z06 every time?
In say a 60-130mph run every 0.1 of a second that you get on the gas before the other car will be worth around 10 feet by 130mph. Last edited by SenorFunkyPants; 01-08-2015 at 07:23 AM.. |

All these cars are brand new! Let them break in a bit. There is already a video up of a z06 being a viper.
Also, on the corvette forums, the owner of the z06 from the video posted by OP leaves a comment stating a couple facts: 1) he had just left a track and these are his street tires. Still cold and unable to hook well 2) The pulls where he beats the hellcat are not shown in the video for obvious reasons 3) at the track, the z06 was trapping and beating the same hellcat all night. Its about an expensive powefull sports car living up to high expectations. I would be very upset if i payed $100k for a new Z and lose roll races to lesser cars. As far as setting records on the track, it may be true, but the factory tune is very lean by design, and this car loses power if driven hard for number of laps. If you touch the tune, you lose the warranty. Thats unecceptable for many of us.. |
