Let me set the record straight since that is in fact me in the E46...
Bone stock 2006 ZCP/SMG. The car felt reasonably fast when I got it but I didn't have anything to really compare it to until I ran with Mike's (Mike@Rimier) 2003 E46. His car has full exhaust, intake, pulley and tune. To our amazement, THE CARS WERE DEAD EVEN! He's run against countless other E46s in the past and spanked them. At the time of the video I had bald tires and couldn't get much traction in first gear. The E92 was driven by a friend (160lbs) and the video was recorded by someone weighing roughly (220lbs). So there was about a 195lbs differential. The E92 had M mode fully enabled and had traction control on. I had M mode enabled with T/C off. The only thing that Mike and I could come up with is that my motor was a "factory freak". I should have never sold that car... |

Thanks for sharing that video! Very interesting
Does the ZCP there have the 343hp engine? All E46 M3s in Europe and Australia have the 343hp engine as standard (along with cross drilled rotors). I heard US/NA only got 333hp engines? Something to do with headers/cats or something like that. damn right it is!! |

Have a look at this spreadsheet I made. Analyse the Power to Weight Ratios and Gearing Ratios.
Now, as far as I understand, the E46 M3 Manual and SMG have the same ratio. Not sure about the DCT and Manual, so in one way, it is a fair comparison, because the DCT is quicker than a Manual, so figures should be conservative, if anything... |
