Compounding their profitability problems is the fact that warranty costs are eating them alive, and that's compounded by their broken-down supply chain.

To be honest I applaud Ford's transparency. Lets see GM do the same. GM continues to make promises, that they are going to be the EV giant. Mary Barra has said multiple times GM would be selling more EVs than Tesla by 2025(laughable claim). Instead they have had multiple EV production goals pushed back. Now a breakup with LG over battery production. Cancellation of a planned 4th battery plant with LG. Now rumors of switching to cylindrical cells.

i think everyone expects to lose in a new segment for some amount of time...
the 2 questions are for how long and is this time frame sustainable in order to bring EVs to the masses as has been promised? It took Tesla 15 years to make solid profits on EVs and this is after they almost went bankrupt 3x and with massive govt backing... So I think there is a lot of stuff happening with this messy transition that we just aren't seeing.
