09 e90 M3 55k Service. What do I need to take care of?

My Service Engine Soon Light came on so I dropped by the dealer to take care of it.
While I was there, I wanted to take care of some maintenance work that needed to be done.

Key reading showed that I was up for

Differential fluid change
Spark Plug change
Break pad change
Break rotor change
Oil Change
Microfilter change
etc...

With couple other things that I can't remember, total came to over $7000.
I wasn't expecting this much work going in and I felt like this was a rip off so I told them to just take care of the SES light.

Now, at 55k miles, what should I take care of and how much should I be paying for service. Can anyone in so-cal recommend me a shop that will thoroughly take care of my maintenance while not ripping me off?

Thank you

All four brake disc + pads is probably a good $2k over here. I did oil, plugs, brake fluid, diff fluid and filters recently which was around $1500. $7k sounds crazy mate, must be another chunk included?

I would never use that dealership again. These are basic maintenance services and $7000 is way over priced.

55k? Get them to do that throttle actuators under warranty now before they fail on you.

yeah... so I was quoted $780 to replace the battery which was throwing the service engine soon.
I asked them why it was this expensive to do something so simple as replace the battery and the reasoning was that they had to register it.

I am not familiar with registering battery. What is it? Do I need to register? Can I get this done somewhere else for cheaper and how much should I be paying?

Thanks

Go to Pep Boys and get a Bosch battery for around $150. Get the Carly for BMW app for iphone or Android and their wifi OBD2 reader (search) for another $130 or so and register the battery yourself. Pat yourself in the back and go have a lavish dinner on the house.

+1.

Or go to a reputable indy bmw shop that can do the same thing for you for much cheaper. $780 is crazy...

Also, check the rear brake rotors as well, usually they're not that bad and doesn't warrant a replacement yet. As for everything else, again, you can mostly go to indy and get it done cheaper. Heck, i usually purchase all the parts and fluids and ask indy to do it and charge me labor only, you'll save a ton.

Lastly, as another mentioned, if you do go to stealership, get them to replace the Throttle body actuators before they fail if you can. Those babies are expensive now, used to be running around $600-700, now they are going for $1000ish each and we need two.

Cheers!
