I can check e92 ZCP spring part numbers tomorrow for you guys. I have my stock pair in storage.

Montaver FWIW, I absolutely LOVE my ZCP + H&R Sport Plus (stiffer than regular Sport, but same drop) + the shaved top mounts/E36 M3 bumpstops combo. I wish it was like this from factory. It never bottoms out, is super smooth and composed and just the added touch of stiffness to make the E9X feel more aggressive and tilt the sport:luxury ratio nicely to the left

I downloaded ETK and looking through them now. I'll start with MY2011 year first as it is the only year sedans existed with ZCP.

I updated the first post following your suggestion with ETK

Thanks!

I keep going back to your setup as an interim solution before I go coilovers. It is either your setup or Swift Spec Rs. That is besides the point of this thread though.

The point of this thread is to get as much information on what the ZCP suspension as there is a lot of conflicting information on the forums.

The springs on my '12 E92 ZCP were marked X6 for the fronts and X5 for the rear.

I think I've posted the PN's here before

The (brand new, ordered from BMW) X6 fronts and X5 rears were almost precisely 10mm shorter free length than (used) OEM X1 front/X2 rear springs from my car. My car is a low-option (premium, cold weather, manual single hump slicktop) 08 E90. The original rear spring pads were pretty smashed, which is why I think the rears only lowered the car about 7mm with new spring pads. The front lowered almost exactly 10mm
Rich,

Having driven the car with the stock springs vs the ZCP springs, what are your thoughts? Isn't the rate about equal between the two sets? I find the stock springs awfully soft to begin with, so I don't see a reason to fit ZCP springs on my car if I'm going to change things up. Lowering it 10mm with a similar rate doesn't seem like an ideal situation...

Thanks,
Chuck

thanks for starting this thread derbo . Been wanting to upgrade suspension for a while now; I want stock ride quality but I want to improve handling and have a modest drop as well. Have you decided what you're going to go with? the ZCP conversion is tempting, just not sure if it's worth the effort. Seems like springs + gc camber plates are less overall effort. Again, I don't want to compromise ride quality, which is one of the things I love so much about it.

In a couple months I'll be able to do back to back comparisons of the oem zcp + gc camber plates vs bilstein b12 non edc + gc camber plates

Very curious about the handling difference between both

I'm steering myself into the interim solution of swift spec R springs. I know in the future I will eventually go to coilovers but I think Swift springs will hold me over for now.

Let me know what you decide. You've done the leg work so I'll likely follow you're lead.

So, swift spec R springs and gc camber plates? Or swift springs + shaved top mounts/e36 bump stops?

Springs for my e92 zcp 6mt were x6 front (31332283563) and x5 rear (33532283569).
Premium nav, enhanced premium audio, extended leather, carbon roof.

I didn't notice any real difference in ride. But I did it at the same time I sold my MCS setup and went back to the stock Sachs dumpers, so it's hard to know.

It's still more comfortable to ride in than my truck, heh

lol. I was just comparing what strokemycocktus mentioned his part numbers as X6/X5 which is what you posted and correlating it to the list I made in the 1st post didn't match your options if you had a sunroof.

So right now, we know X6/X5 part numbers. There is is X4, X7, X8 markings out there and maybe more?

I'm undecided on what I want to do due to the lack of travel. Honestly, if you want OEM ride quality with a 10mm drop, ZCP is the way to go. If you prioritize handling over aesthetics, there is no better solution. I personally don't know if I will be happy with the factory 10mm drop. I will have to look at more pics to determine if that is enough for me. Either way, I will most likely get a camber plate (Vorshlag or GC) to get some adjustability and get more camber.

Lol you guys really need to read up on MRF's ZCP + H&R Sport/Sport Plus write up...

That is what I am running, and I can tell you without a shred of doubt there has been zero negative effect to the suspension travel, ride quality, or compliance in any way whatsoever. It is an improvement over stock with zero downsides... But hey, if unfounded skepticism is what drives your decision on just throwing in stock ZCP shocks and springs as the only solution other than coilovers, then be my guest

Oh I've read it. With the knowledge the bumpstop is a progressive secondary spring rate, the e36 bumpstop solution seems odd. I understand it provides extra distance but what happens when it hits the bumpstop?

Maybe try DINAN springs, they lower the car by 1/2" front and back and most likely have the spring rate that allows good handling. Any other aftermarket spring set seems to be mostly for looks, as they lower the front more to remove the wheel gap. This IMO upsets the weight distribution.
I had the swifts with my ZCP suspension and didn't like the handling. Sure it was stiffer and on a perfeclty smooth road you could definitely feel less body roll, but the suspension had problems with keeping the wheels on the ground on any road imperfections. I didn't have the e36 bump stop/shaved mounts mod though. The drop difference isn't that big vs ZCP springs as well

So what about non-EDC + non-ZCP cars? Would a ZCP spring + non-EDC strut/shock combo be advisable?
