I'm still betting the GN will have went down several positions once things settle in. What is shocking is where the Oilers are. Would have expected a dogfight at the top with them, Ducks, Kings and Sharks....well, it's pre-season

After 10 games the playoffs are pretty much set - most likely 12 or 13 of the top 16 teams now will make the playoff.

My poor Habs are on the outside looking in - they looking in with a telescope bc they aint even close to the arena!!

Well, it's not that bad yet. Pretty much a 3-4 game win streak for any team other than Arizona gets a playoff spot right now. When the point totals are under 20 a 8 point swing is huge. Look at the ducks last year: sucked for the first 20 games, got decent by midpoint, turned it on for the second half and were one of the top seeded teams.

I think there are a bunch of teams under performing big time now: Habs, Oilers, Wild and Rangers as examples.

You know what this thread needs...more powerhouses from the original 6. Strong teams like the Rangers, Montreal, Detroit, and Boston. You know, between those 4, I think they have 6 wins.

Better than the Pens last night. Apparently there's in issue with the 2nd game of these back to backs...where we play away with the home team rested. Thank god we only have 14 more of these.

They played him in the back to back games. No idea why It was a no brainer to pull him after the 4th goal in the 1st.

Check the Pens goal differential, which is -14. We've played 4 back to back sets...in the 2nd game, we're a -21. Over a 5 goal 'differential' in 4 games. One game vs Tampa, we lost by a goal, so a -7 goal differential in the other 3.

When they lose...they're getting smoked.

With this, Pens only have 7 goals in their last 5 games. From that...2 of those goals were OT winners in 3 on 3. So, 1 goal a game in regulation lately ain't gonna cut it. Them's Arizona numbers...

Damn - at least we're blowing our wad early. Get it out of our system now.

It was a bit sentimental...the guy has been here 20 years--that's almost half my life--so it was odd hearing his name called out against the Sharks. At least we got the win and are starting to crawl back up in the standings.

Well, you know how it works--they fell short again so someone has to take the fall. I think several factors: 1. probably offered him only a year and much less than the market. 2. The writing on the wall is that the Sharks are trying to move the young kids up. 3. How many years have the Sharks been a serious contender with Marleau as one of their stars and still failed.

Honestly, as good as he still is and contributed I think the chemistry had to change. It doesn't matter at some point if you have a bunch of stars yet can't win the big prize--things have to shake up. Look at when they got rid of McClellen--great coach but something had to change.
Look at Darryl Sutter--brought the Sharks close, was fired and brought the cup to LA soon after.
How cool would it be if the Sharks and Leafs met in the finals this year? Well cool for me.
