Man, this is a bummer. I think when they say it is not for DCT vehicles, that refers to the way it fits the paddles. It seems to be a power issue, and how would that differ from automatics? Wonder if it is worth trying a new wheel...

any 6mt owners chime in? I'm wondering if we could just wire directly to the battery and have an inline fuse to protect it.

DCT, yes. I haven't driven my car in days and started it up to let her run and the wheel worked fine. this is intermittent and bizarre! Its an easy reset with it wired to the fuse. Still considering a switch off the fuse to make life even easier.

I am wired to the battery right now. Worked for a few restarts, and now it is no longer working.

I think it's fair to say that this wheel isn't for DCT. Simple fix is too wire to constant power (fuse 18) while installing a reset switch that's accessible to the driver and is concealed. That's what I'm doing

Okay guys, I'll just share my experience with this PSW II, I have a DCT, my Tech wired the power to CAS Modules, and I only had this issue (shift light not working) once after a 5 hours road trip. Other than that, it's all good. Last time I had the issue (the only time), I found the steering wheel can't read the current RPM, you can see the wheels reading the current RPM while you're in the shift RPM limit setting screen, I believe that's why the shift lights aren't working, can't say if power source is relevant here or not.

Yep, the root problem is the RPM reading in the wheel which adversely affects the shift lights since RPM is stuck at 0.

Its definately a power issue and seems to be more common for owners that dont use the car daily. My car sits all week and is not driven from Dec to March....

Correct, but Oil/Water temps are still live - meaning the wheel is still getting a valid CAN signal.

We have a 10ga zip line going directly from the battery to the steering wheel on Lagunae92's M3, and his wheel lost shift lights after 1 night. Power delivery can pretty much be ruled out.

I also drive my car several times a day, from 3 miles to 60 miles, so it does not seem to be a matter of not driving it enough for me.

Same here, I don't use my M daily, but fortunately, I don't have this issue.

It's weird. It will work for a while, and if I restart the car within 10 minutes or so, no problem. I hit a few golf balls, and 1.5 hours later it didn't work. Obviously it is capable of working...

Tom - what else could it be? Has BMWNA been made aware of the issue?

It's possibly a difference in the profiles in a control module (likely KOMBI). A comparison of a 6MT vs DCT should be a good place to start.

9-5 is a thing of the past, we leave when the work is done.

Missed you last night, I heard you dropped by after you had already left.

Yeah I was there 2 times in 30 minutes. Had a dumb moment.

I'll drop by again soon and see what you're up to.

I feel you on the 9-5. I was at the shop till 10:30pm last night myself.

Tom, Would coding potentially fix this?

Possibly. The list of variables has certainly dwindled down.

I'm going to look into this over the weekend, I have data from my previous 6MT as well as the current DCT.
