I think it looks pretty good...It is aimed at competing with the Kindle and all other e-book readers first and formost. You guys cant seriously think that it would come with a camera, multitasking and every other feature under the sun. That starts to compete with the MB/MBP line and isn't a good business decision. By keeping it simple and adding features that e-book readers dont have but net-books do they positioned themselves right in the middle for someone wanting to by either device. So I say nice job, could have some better features but they pass in my book...

Naming the iPad the iPad instead of the iSlate = stupid.

iPod, iPad, iPhone....

Get off the p kick...and realize that the iPad is too closely named to the iPod.

Apple does claim 10 hours of battery life.

Does it have an asterisk next to it?

* Up to 10 hours with the following features turned off: Wifi, 3G, GPS, Bluetooth, etc....

Testing consisted of full battery discharge while performing each of the following tasks: video playback, audio playback, and Internet browsing using Wi-Fi. Video content was a repeated 2-hour 23-minute movie purchased from the iTunes Store. Audio content was a playlist of 358 unique songs, consisting of a combination of songs imported from CDs using iTunes (128-Kbps AAC encoding) and songs purchased from the iTunes Store (256-Kbps AAC encoding). Internet over Wi-Fi tests were conducted using a closed network and dedicated web and mail servers, browsing snapshot versions of 20 popular web pages, and receiving mail once an hour. All settings were default except: Wi-Fi was associated with a network; the Wi-Fi feature Ask to Join Networks and Auto-Brightness were turned off. Battery life depends on device settings, usage, and many other factors. Battery tests are conducted using specific iPad units; actual results may vary.

Yeah they claim 10 hours doing video rendering... which would be a feat in itself.

My iPhone lasts a good 8-10 hours while playing music, games and video all day...

I don't think it'd be very good for that. Without tactile feedback on the keyboard, forget touch typing. Besides- it'd have to be at an awkward viewing angle to type on it. It'd really doesn't seem useful for writing more than a couple sentences on. You also can't draw on the notes (critical if you're an engineering, chemistry, or medical student and still useful for many other majors).

They should get off the "i" kick, too. What that hell is it for? It's iMeaningless. "Slate" is a nice sounding word though- I agree that would sound much better. Or if they give it actual computer (instead of iPod) hardware how about MacTab or MacSlate.

Problem solved. It wil also work with BT keyboards as well. So then only thing you need then is the dock to prop it up.

Also have the case,

As to no tactile feel, I am used to my iPhone. So no problem.

For me, it still isn't a problem. Apple's BT keyboard is really small and thin. So it can fit in my book bag as with the dock. It may not be the ideal solution for everyone, but it will work for me perfectly.

Too bad it doesn't have OS X. Would've been willing to pay more for that.

This thing is kinda silly imo ..

Which is likely why I'll be keeping my Mini 9 in lieu of this. Does everything I want it to do, is compactible, and allows me a lot more functionality for less (oh darn, I don't get a touch screen...I'll live).
