diagnose a problem

Everytime i make a hard right turn, it sounds like something is rubbing or something in the back right tire, is this the diff or something else?

if it sounds like a rubbing nise more noticeable on tight turns, u may need to replace your differential fluid to the one with the additive. after u put in new fluid its best to do about 10 circles left and 10 circlesright (steering full lock) to fully eliminate the noise...

Not the BMW fluid. Unless you have money to burn Make sure it has the proper friction modifiers for LSD read ends.

Lots of options are available. I have run both Redline and Castrol and they work fine. This is a good kit as you "need" new plugs according to BMW anyway.

It costs about $170 to service the diff yourself with genuine fluid and new plugs. Small price to pay for not having to be a chemist and add FM’s

The Castrol service kit does not need any additional modifiers. It is all you need. The bmw fluid is too expensive given there are high quality non-BMW fluids that work just fine.

Everyone sure is quick to jump on the idea of a differential fluid change. Diff problems are typically clunking sounds.

I would always start with a quick visual inspection; get the car up on a lift and take a look around (bent suspension component, road debris, wheel weight coming loose, loose lug nut, etc).

Blown shock over-compressing letting your wheel hit the liner on the back right?

Like dparm said; do a visual inspection. Check your inner fender liners on that side for unusual/fresh rub marks or wear.

So I went to an empty parking lot and locked the wheel to right and left and there was no noise, so does that rule out the diff being a problem ?
