That's the plan for now

FWIW, my track toy is a '08 e90 with 233K, although I suspect the engine was swapped at some point....

I have a spare motor "laying around" just incase.

The crazy thing is it runs and drives like perfectly. I probably should've kept my e92 fully DINAN'd out M3 with70k for a track toy, but this one was paid for.

It's awesome. You know how I know it's awesome? All the 6MT guys give me crap (translation: are jealous) that I can downshift anywhere I want to. It really is great. The only technical issue really any of us have run into is: once you have a really high grip car, the shifting can be a bit funky during sustained high-G situations because the transmission seems to suffer from oil starvation. This was basically solved by the Slon Workshop DCT pan. I have no hesitations in recommending that pan. It has been great. The owner of Slon Workshop puts group buys together 10 people at a time. Really beautiful product. You can see my write up about it here: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showth...45&page=33
Damn thats really great to hear about the DCT, I am not used to how the DCT operates but one of my friends with an E92 warned before I got it that its more like a manual than a traditional auto, I guess the slippage between drive and reverse had me a little worried. Are people replacing the clutch pack with the upgraded ones or is it unnecessary? I actually have seen your car at the track before, my first event on the west coast was the bimmer challenge at buttonwillow right before Christmas. Some beautiful cars there, yours is one of my favorite, as well as that nardo grey coupe with the sweet body work.

I appreciates everyone input. Will wait to see if this car I was eyeing becomes available again on racingjunk otherwise I think I'm going to jump on a set of status seats from a forum member and begin the process, next steps would be camber plates, set of 18s with better tires, half cage, and harnesses, also am going to order the GT3 brake ducts for the front control arms since my only complaints with the stock system is slight fade at the end of the straights at ACS and Big Willow.
Here is my post re the GT3 brake scoops install. I have one weekend on them, but at a new to me track, so will need to wait until this weekend to see if they really helped.

Haven't checked this thread in a couple weeks but thanks to everybody's words of encouragement I decided I'm going to begin the process of converting my car into a track car. I put in a set of Status seats from a fellow forum member in a couple weeks ago in preparation for a track day at Laguna Seca. What an awesome drive taking PCH the whole way.

I think you'll be fine as long as you keep fresh fluids in it. I'd look into changing fluids very often.

Here's my intervals on my E46 M3:

Oil/PS - 2-3 events
Coolant, diff, MT fluids - 6-8 events
Plugs, coils, valve adjustment - 1x per year or 12 events

If it was a DCT - 12 events or once a year.

Need to be aware that you will increase the stress on the car once you put R-Comps on. Everything will run hotter and take more of a beating. My intervals above are for my E46 M3 on R-Comps.

May want to throw on fresh coolers too. I think OEM for radiator and oil cooler is fine.
