ST XTA Coilovers

Thanks to the guys at Silicon Valley Bimmer in Santa Clara for installing my XTAs on my E92!

I can echo the two positive reviews that preceded my post. Although I'm only on day 2 of having these bad boys installed, I'm very satisfied with the overall results. If you were on the fence, you shouldn't be.

Lowered about 1.25 on front and about 1 in the rears

Dampening set just over the half way mark which is perfect for me. Def NOT as comfy as stock, but that's what I wanted.

I drove about 65 miles from Santa Clara with this new set up, mostly highway. Steering response is quite different than stock...in a good way. No roll when going around the 25mph 180 degree on ramps.

I prob will never be able to speak on behalf of their track performance, but for those looking to get rid of the stock wheel gap while improving your street driving experience, these are a no brainer.

Hopefully these pictures post...

Just ordered a set of these! If you don't mind me asking, how much lower are you able to go on these?

Nice, congrats! You're gonna love them.

From ST's Website, I think the official specs are:

Front: 0.4 inch to 1.5 inch
Rear: 0.2 inch to 1.4 inch

I really hated the stock wheel gap, so I was close to about 1 ish. I'm sure you know, but keep in mind that it will settle (i.e. get lower) with time. On OEM 19 inch 220s no rubbing issues at all.

I set the dampening just past the half way mark which is perfect for me. The front dampening adjustment screw is easy to access, but the rear is a pain.

Congrats! Good to hear that ST is catching some momentum. I really feel that they're underrated.

Post some pics when you have time.

Also on a set of ST XTAs that I installed a few weeks ago.

Snapped a few of mine this morning on the ole iPhone, as you can see wheel gap is nonexistent. I forgot to measure how much I dropped it when I installed, but took some playing around with to get the fronts low enough without rubbing. I am damn close at full lock, might be able to fit a hair between the fender liner and the tire haha.

Fronts are 255/20/30 et22 rears are 285/20/30 et 25. Clearing the front perch by about 5mm, could probably fit a 7.5mm spacer up front. No rubbing. I also have my alignment specs following install attached.

In the words of Lightning McQueen "Ca-Chow" lol

What would be the best settings for rebound on terrible nyc roads?

I'm no expert, but I don't think there's a right answer to your question. You'll have to consider comfort, drivability, and personal preference. After all, I'm sure you bought the suspension knowing it'll likely be more rough than stock. However, I personally love feeling the road when I drive. Even with those considerations the great thing about this coilover setup is that it is adjustable. If you're still unsure, set at the half-way mark and adjust as needed.

Good luck!

Streets are pretty shitty here in south jersey/philadelphia as well. Right now I have mine set half way and I wouldn't want them set any harder. Just make sure you're dipping and dodging those potholes to the best of your ability haha

Nice, weighing up between these and the KW V1 at the moment, has anyone experienced any noises while driving or manoeuvring since having these fitted?

Asking as coilovers with solid top mounts sometimes cause some noises which is not something I'd want.
