Look to purchase a used e92 M3

Hi all,

I am starting to look around a purchasing a used e92 M3. I was wondering if there was a model year changes summary FAQ somewhere (like there was one for the e46 model years). It would help me narrow down which years to look at (ie when was the LCI?).

Main things for the e92:

2009: Idrive update

2011: Tail light LCI and ZCP

i would at least get a 2009 with Idrive. It makes a big differences!

best case a 2011 with ZCP

I'm with Easy_E on this one. Get the 2009+. The iDrive is much improved with the ComBox.

Thanks so much, good to know. It seems like BMW improved all their warranties across the board in 2011. Not a lot of 2011 for sale lately, mostly 2008 and a few 2009 in my area. I actually want a sunroof with DCT - the sunroof is not a very popular option (but I'll use my sunroof everyday - and maybe only get to track it once or twice).

I think you need a CF roof and DCT. BTW did I mention I have an 11 for sale ? :P

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind...

Yeah, lots of CF roofs around, but I do love my sunroof now - hoping it will actually fetch me a lower price.

Sunroof ones stay in the market place longer. Doesn't diminish the value, it just takes longer to sell.

And really with the magic they can accomplish with coding I wouldn't turn a blind eye to a deal on a clean 2008. My car has CCC which is inferior to CIC, but I didn't even want nav so it did not effect my decision. I just leave the screen off, can't tell what version I have.
