Those with Eisenmann Race exhaust:
I've had my Eisenmann Race exhaust installed for about 2 weeks now with stock xpipe. I ordered the painted black ceramic from IND which looks 10/10 minus some powdercoat issues that InD is going to fix.
The tone and exhaust note is incredible, my only concern is it's a little on the quiet side which seems odd cause all the reviews I've read of it being too quiet are all referencing the eisenmann sport not race. I was looking for an axelback system which does not sound obnoxious like the Chinese valved systems and also not raspy. I definitely got that w/ E Race, but want it to be slightly louder while retaining the exhaust note. Is this possible? I imagine a HFC xpipe might be a solution to this as opposed to a catless xpipe which for my taste might be too loud/raspy. Am I crazy and this system is plenty loud on stock xpipe or is an High flow xpipe a good step to add and see if it suits my needs? Looking for xpipe recommendations or ideas from anyone running an Erace. Last edited by Hein Jockins; 05-01-2022 at 05:52 PM.. |

I have an e-race with a Turner test pipe. Only primary cat delete, everything else in tact. I like the sound, not raspy and the test pipe added volume. I posted a video in the thread below.

Thanks. I really like to the sound but thinking of switching to a catless but likely resonated xpipe for performance benefits but don't want to ruin the sound and make it too raspy or obnoxious.

I just ordered Macht Schnell Test Pipes, and I'm going to give that a shot before moving to a new xpipe. Interested in the performance gains as well as a bump in the exhaust note, so I'll see what I think after I get this in. Turner Test pipes are discontinued (which I didn't know), but I don't think there's any difference in any stainless steel test pipes so I just went with a Macht Schnell cause it's available.

I had eisenmann race with turner test pipes. Sound of Music! I would imagine aftermarket X pipe will be too loud and raspy.

I had the E race with stock x pipe and both cats, then installed test pipes, then went catless MS xpipe.
I prefer the xpipe over the test pipes and mainly because there is less drone and it is quieter at cruising speeds but louder when you get on it. Only thing is it seems like the MS xpipe caused the E race tips to sit a little further in, compared to how it sat prior. Not sure if that's cause of my poor installation. Feels like the tips need to stick out another inch or two. And especially when I decide to get a rear diffuser it'll make it look even worse. |

I had the erace with the stock x for a year or so and agree that it sounded awesome but was just not loud enough. At that point I found a dinan x pipe which is quad resonated, no cats. That sounds fantastic, people stop me and ask about it all the time and it really sounds as close to exotic as you can get with these cars. After 5 years of this setup, I am getting pretty used to the volume and am considering making it louder. The MS x with 2 resonators sounds like the next step for me too. I think you will love it.

I never heard anyone say erace with stock X was quiet, so I thought something had to be up or I just went deaf over night. And I'm not into making my m3 loud for the sake of loud. To me it's the best pitch, note, etc. but just sounds stock at 3k+ rpm.
My test pipes are on their way, so I'll start with this and play around with the X if I get tired of it |

Well the e-race is considered a fairly loud rear section compared to most of the other aftermarket rear sections (exception for the systems that are essentially straight through mufflers). Probably one of the loudest. That being said, the stock X is pretty restrictive and removing a bank of cats will make a huge difference and really opens the car up. Going catless and getting a tune was the biggest increase in overall drivability for me.

I read on the forums probably a decade ago. Eisenmann race were really race until they downgraded the sound and renamed race to sport race.
Know what I mean? Ten year ago sport race is today's race version. |

I don't mind the smell at all. You don't smell it at stop lights even with the windows down, but if you are behind the car you will. I have the dinan x pipe which is quad resonated. There is barely any rasp, sounds fantastic. People ask me about it every time I drive it. I think I could even lose a pair of resonators and still maintain this character while adding more volume.

Eisenmann Race sounds great with a catless xpipe or even hfc.
It doesn't drone as much as other loud rear sections and not much rasp also which is what most people like about it. IMO it's not even that loud when driving normal but opens up when you get on it. Don't have any outside video right now but here is an in car video at the track. Catless xpipe + Eisenmann Race

Very strange to hear that your E/Race isn't loud. Maybe not loud enough for your taste? LOL.
I have the E/Race with AA test pipe plus evolve stage 2 tune. Before the TP, I also didn't think it was as loud as what others said but didn't really enjoy the drone the axleback only set up was producing. After the TP and tune, very little drone which I actually happen to love! Also, not sure if the tune has anything to do with this, but I do get more pronounced rumbling right after up-shifting and aggressive rev-matching bark when down shifting; both when the shifting happens around 3.5k rpm. In short, it's a music to my ears!!! BTW, very little smell but nothing unmanageable even in my E93 with the top down. |

But this thread has been helpful seeing others with the same experience. And obviously it's all subjective. I know several purists who think oem exhaust is perfect. And honestly it probably is, but I just want a little more boom but nothing obnoxious. So my test pipe is going in after this track weekend, and I'm stoked to hear/feel the difference. |
