UPDATE: Do88 DCT Cooler has arrived after a long wait! Will be installed as soon as it's nice out lol thank you for all the feedback and response! 2/1/22

Hey Guys,

Apologies if this has been covered already.

Has anyone else noticed a lag in DCT shifts when oil temps exceed 275?

I was on track this past weekend and there was a noticeable drop in shift quickness.

Temps only exceeded 275 once during a particularly hard session. I have stock cooling and the DCT GTS tune.

Would the CSF or D088 transmission coolers remedy this or do I just need to take it easy? (Difficult to do with such a sonorous engine)

Thanks in advance!

Looks like D088 is sold out…CSF is not a good alternative?

I have a CSF radiator in my E36 and have been happy with its performance and build quality.

The CSF transmission radiator is not large enough to do anything; Only the do88 cooler will solve this - you can try the larger metal slonik/fall line transmission pan and I believe people have had good results with just this alone

CSF isn't large enough to resolve this issue, if you also have a GTS tune this will only become a more prominent issue at every track event.

D088 or nothing. or just get a larger dct pan with the extra L capacity.

Wait for the D088. Just cut your sessions a bit shorter until it arrives, or short shift the car to keep temps down a bit.

Do you run a GTS or a Euro DCT tune?

I have the slon DCT bottom and side pans. Solved limp mode issues for me. However I still get slower shifts on really hot days. I think the do88 DCT cooler would solve it.

Bottom pan = solve transmission fluid pressure loss error code
do88 cooler = solve fluid temp (slow shifting)

I think having +2L fluid - Slon DCT pan and +1L banjo bolt - will go a long way towards preventing starvation and overheating.

it's 800ml additional for the pan and 1L addition with the bango bolt.

So maybe he meant close to 2L total.

To clarify.
The OEM procedure takes care of the pan since it says fill until the oil comes out. So what ever the amount, it does not need to be measured.

Then add 1L.

BTW,
I am finally able to log DCT temperature.

This will allow to put to rest the idea that DCT sluggishness correlate to temperature and temp duration and how long it takes to cool off.

This may help:

I have the radiator and trans cooler and neither offers improvement over stock. Radiator is actually less effective than stock.

So what route would you go? Do88?

How did you come to that conclusion about the radiator? Any data to back it up? Just curious as I've heard the same before.
