I had an isF before I picked up my e93 m3. The isF def feels faster IMO but thats probably because of the difference in the amount of torque between both cars. And yes, I have test driven the e92 as well.

I loved my isF. The interior was gorgeous, much more luxurious than the m3, but not as sporty. Exterior of the isF is subjective but there were definitely some angles which made the car look very sexy and others where it looked..well less than that...

Both cars are GREAT. Yeah the m3 might be better in some or most areas but the isF is not that far behind. It was a definite joy to own and unless you have driven one yourself, I don't think its fair to bash on it

This may be covered already, but Top Gear did a shootout between the two and the M3 DESTROYED the IS-F. They said the 8-speed tranny roamed CONSTANTLY on the Lexus.

Why an ancient thread like this was revived in the first place is a fail.

Your posting a 3 year old vid that is irrelevant is an even bigger fail.

If you aren't aware, there has been a major update with major improvements. And no, in sport mode with the paddles it doesn't "hunt for gears". The gap between the two is very close nowadays and ultimately comes down to the driver.

Of course, I don't expect the fanbois to ever acknowledge that.

I don't think the magazine's even consider the IS-F as a competitor to the M3 any more.

If just the fanbois are going to post maybe the mods should simply close this thread.

I have two friends that have the ISF. I have driven it plenty of times. I'm no professional drive so I cant feel the difference. The ISF feels like it pulls a little harder though. We have played on many different areas and canyon drives, the ISF doesnt keep up with me but on freeways or straights, its a coin flip. One thing I will give it is my friends have an 08 and a 09 ISF. The 08 has 60,000 miles and the 09 has about 40,000. Neither car has had any issues what so ever. Just oil changes, when my M3 has been in the shop time after time from trans to CEL, etc.....

Holy crap deja vu. My dad test drove both cars before buying the m3 an the same thing happened. During the is-f test drive the seller kept telling my dad to floor it and then he got in the driver's seat and did some donuts and demonstrated the car's different settings, it sure was fun. My dad ended up getting the m3 because he already has an is250 and it would still be sort of similar interior and looks wise so he went with the M3 and he loves it. He also test drove a cayman s and didn't like it

I drove both on a track (Lexus had a track day for the IF) before I bought my M3. The Lexus sucked on the track, no feedback, trans was terrible, brakes were pretty good, engine was good. M3 was way faster and way more fun...
On the street I'm not sure which is better, but BMW's have a feeling about them that the Japanese cars don't have, even though they are typically built better...

Needless to say I bought a M3

IMO M3 is better; hence why I own one. Tranny in the ISF is junk and handling isn't even close to the M. Not bashing the ISF, as it is still head and shoulders better than 90% of the cars on the road, but compared to the M it comes up short. Just my 2 cents...
