Its working fine ... the moment I touch the throttle they are opening. I will post a video as to what I am talking about.

It's good to hear (or not ) FWIW, after lubing everything, mine are silent with the new actuators.

What did you lubricate with? I was told paraffin is good because nothing gets stuck to it.

I used some anti-seize. I think this area gets quite hot. There are a lot of items we have seen needing replacements: the fuel breather, idle control, these throttle actuators ... all live in the same area under the plenum.

So far so good, I popped up some photos of the degraded gears 39k on the clock, crazy.

Finally got my car fixed through the dealership. First, only actuator bank two was replaced, but after a short while, faults where coming back, so actuator bank one had to be replaced as well. Now the car is fine again, but indeed quite an expensive repair and no coulance from BMW on the parts, which is a shame in my opinion.

With the help of this DIY I was able to tackle both actuators and the idle control device in less than six hours. I used a synergyn red grease on the return springs as well as trying to get some into the bushings that the control rod rides on--quieted down noticeably. Thank you for posting this DIY. I'm now in the process of tearing mine down to fab up a new drivetrain for rapid prototype.

No problem. Definitely keep us updated as to how that goes.

Wouldn't be a bad idea if someone uploads a picture and show exactly where to grease. My actuators make a hell of a noise.

+1 on the lubrication, sorry I didn't get any pics, but basically as sterile stork mentioned, the linkages and springs. You can move them by hand to see where the points should lubed.

I've had the pre-check error come up at least four times and a couple of them when I haven't started the car, only when the ignition has been switched on. Wondering whether it could be more electronic related than gear wear.

This....because I though mine was good but it's squeaky as well.

Mine have been squeaking (well one of them anyway, the one I didn't replace) for something like 20-30k miles but it's still trucking along.

It's probably both, but lack of lubrication can't be a good thing in this hot area.

I just replaced these in my throttle actuators. My car has 90k and hasn't thrown any code but I have notices some hesitation at part throttle. It seem to be gone now after I changed the gears. No need for any software reset, just change the gears, put it all back together and that's it. My half gears have shown wear and there are some good amount of play when it's around the worn teeth. The gearsets from Alpina527 is very high quality.

And thanks the OP for the write up!

Not trying to

Just wanted to give a quick thank you to OP for this great DIY.

I used it to replace my ICV. Similar steps involved in that process, and your advice was invaluable. Thank you!!

While tackling the throttle control actuators and idle control device I figured it timely to capture some footage of the throttle bodies in action. Never mind the delayed throttle response, the expected codes were thrown for a disconnected IAT sensor cutting power.
