There are a handful of dealers that say they can't put in an order yet because not all dealers have received an allocated car with a production number tied to specs that can be modified. At most, some dealers can only enter an order into the configurator or order bank but it won't have an assigned production number. I have a friend who is first in line at another Chicago area BMW dealer but as of today, they still don't have an M3 in the system with a production number. Meanwhile, I'm already tracking mine but didn't put my deposit in until just recently. It seems to be crap shoot or perhaps some higher volume dealers get more priority than others.

Do you know what dealer your friend is number 1 in line at? I'm number 2 at a Chicago area dealer and they told me the same thing about still not having a production number for their number 1 person.

Not sure but it's the one up by where he lives in Barrington... so I wanna say motorwerks or maybe even anderson, maybe both If he wasn't so lazy and made his way to one of the larger volume dealers closer to the city, I'm sure he'd be in the same boat I am. Who's your dealer? Large or small?

I put my deposit at a small dealer, Laurel, in Westmont. Only good thing is we may have some DCT info by the time it's my turn.
