I probably paid to much, but don't really care. I got the exact car I wanted, this was last fall (2013) at Seattle BMW - NO TAX (Oregon resident) Listed at $63,000 - paid $61,458

Heck I think I kind of got the 'unicorn' of pre-owned cars..

I put down $25,000 in cash and financed the rest at like 2%

2012 BMW M3 - had just over 10,000 miles on it, local car, guy who had it before me - it was for his wife , apparently it was to much car for her. Also, the guy has purchased over 7 new BMW's from Seattle BMW

Special editions are always hard to judge. IMO it really just depends on how much you want to stand out. Me personally, I'd have no problem over paying for a special color like a frozen or Limerock.

Welcome to the forum too!

yeah, agreed, Frozen and special colors with super low miles like that sample is hard to gauge proper pricing. Rule of thumb is you shouldn't pay anymore than the base pre-owned price (had the car been a standard color), then add the maximum of the MSRP cost of the special paint, which I believe is $5500(?) to arrive at your highest price you should pay.

If you get fancy, you can depreciate the $5500 paint cost and add that to the depreciated price of the car to gauge what you should ideally pay, but there's not enough transactions on a special edition car to tell you what that price should be.

A lot of it is a trickle down from Enthusiast Auto Group in Ohio. They price their cars really high. Not sure what they actually sell for but I'm sure if they list that aggressively they get high purchase prices. Mixed reviews.

Seriously how did you get this deal? I have been searching for months for same car and same mileage. They are all advertised for above 45k.

Thanks

Found it on the BMW website.Originally they had it at $48K, but kept dropping it by $2K every 2 weeks. I think it was the color combo . SSII with bamboo beige and anthracite. I was quiet patient and followed up every week. I wanted a sub $40K E90 M3 under 40K miles, didn't really care about options or color.

Sales guy was awesome, and so was the dealership and I was willing to keep looking if someone else bought it at above $40K. The whole process took 6 weeks. I just lucked out that no one else picked it up.

Preeble : They are both awesome cars, but that's true about all M3's I guess. They were the most capable and practical cars that you could buy during their time period.

E46 M3 : I feel was more nimble and easier to have more fun with around town.I liked the raspy exhaust note. Awesome suspension but a tad bit on the harsh side especially on bumpy roads. Loved the interior of the car.Too many issues on mine Vanos, Subframe, water pump pulley. I think its a trade off with high performance cars. I still think the body shape and overall look from the outside is the better of the two.

E90 M3 : Love the 4 doors. Around town feels a bit heavy, like a 540. But once you get above 4.5K rpm its a beast. More torsional rigidity on the chassis but a much more refined (comfort mode EDC) suspension makes for an amazing ride. V8 sounds great. MDM mode is just brilliant I think, that's the feature i like the most.

Are you serious man?! The price and mileage are not even close to what aashan found. I am doing my home work every single day all over US and didn't find such a deal. When I say that's really a good deal, then I really mean it
