I especially don't get people who say the Boxster is a girl's car, while the Cayman is the second coming. They're the same car except for the roof. Yes, Porsche has given the 09s a couple of HP more to the Cayman (to try to differentiate it), but, really folks, do you think they're different cars?

We know the 09 Cayman is different from the 06-08; the poster was asking how the Cayman is so much more girly compared to the Boxster.

Speaking as a former Porschephile: while I respect what Weideking's done for Porsche as a company, I'm not a fan of the direction the cars have taken since he took over. About the only Porsche products I'd consider owning are the 997 turbo and GT3.

When I test drove the the Cayman 1.0, I felt it needed more power, a LSD, and that it was overpriced; I wound up in my M Coupe because it had none of those defects. The facelift fixed the first two issues, but it's still too pricey for it's market segment.

Yeah, well, Weideking is gone. http://www.spiegel.de/international/...636794,00.html

And he just lost the company to VW. The fight is over.

IMO Porsche made a huge mistake 60 years ago when they hung the engine behind the rear axle and have spent the last 60 years trying to fix it. They have done a remarkable job in that respect and the current models are great cars but the rear engine Porsche may be at the end of its development.

At one point I had a 356. It was a fun car but like the early 911s it could transition to snap oversteer very quickly and could be a handful when pushed to the limit. The Cayman is a better balanced car, is very neutral and IMO easier to drive fast that the rear engine models.

I heard that there is a $10k incentive, however, only if the respective dealer has willingly taken more (other) allocations. So, it's not that across the board. At least not yet.
