On the other hand, a Porsche 911, while by no means an exotic, triggers more notice by the average non-car-person. The reason I had originally picked the Mustang over the M3 was to be able to treat it like crap and not care. But it turns out, I just didn't enjoy it enough. I'd rather have the M3 and deal with the concerns over street parking, road salt, dings and wear and tear. It's still worth it. |

I did. Sad, but it wasn't the right car for me.. Too big, too heavy, gets horrible mileage for no good reason, too much power for DD (can't go full throttle, can't redline)... So I thought what's the point? I do track my cars, and tracking M3 is very expensive as well. The power is good at the track, but not the weight..
So I decided to split the M3's personality. I now have a MINI Cooper S as a DD, and sometime in the future I'll buy a track car. Porsche 944 seems to be the best candidate. In the mean time, I'm tracking the MINI, and I have to say I'm glad with this decision. I've heard this from many instructors as well: M3 is a wrong car to learn HPD.

I don't think anyone wants to make a 60K mistake. Most people do their research on the cars before pulling the trigger I would hope. The M3 would be a really expensive regret.

I had a 2010 E92 M3 for all of two months, but couldn't handle the maintenance of the black paint. Realizing that I'm far too neurotic for jet black I put the car up on LeaseTrader and ordered a 2011 E92 M3 in Silverstone.... I'm much happier now

I bought an E90 M3 because I needed four doors. I haven't regretted one day of it thus far. Then again, I'm an M3 nut...

I'm in a situation right now where I'm deciding what to do with my M3 as my wife is now pregnant with our 2nd child. She has a 323i (equivalent to a 328i in the US). I really like the X5 which would be suitable for us. The question is, do I sell my M3 or her 323i?

I sometimes wish I had got a GTR instead as that fits my lifestyle and track/hard core performance mental orientation better... but i am very happy with the M3... eventually though, I see myself in a GTR.. just a matter of time.

no regrets here. like everyone else i just worry about some things. at work i park a good 7 min away from the building (walking distance) in the parking garage where as if i was driving my 335i i would just park in the regular spots with everyone else .

i had a mustang gt for over a year before selling it and buying the m3, and i had maybe three or four people even look twice at it, and those time were because of the red leather interior that made it stick out. BMW, regardless of the model, garners more attention than a Mustang.

Not to take the wind out of anyones sails but in my experience most people do not know what an M3 is and see it as another BMW in a sea of BMWs. The same could be said about AMG Mercedes vs a "regular: Mercedes.
Changing the front and rear bumpers, adding a dome to the hood and putting on different rims does not make the care look significantly different to most people. To be perfectly honest sometimes I have to look twice myself to see if it is an M or a regular 3 and I know what the visual cues are. But to get back on topic I do not know any M3 owners who regret buying it. CA

I regretted not purchasing one sooner.
Amongst car enthusiast and people who generally know a bit about cars, the M3 does garner attention. For those who aren't into these sort of things, I don't think it really matters if they notice it or not. From personal experience, my car is a head-turner. People regularly break their necks to get a look, give me a thumbs up, or ask about it. |

I've attracted way more dudes than chicks in this car. Unless the girl is awesome and knows a thing or two about cars, she just sees BMW and doesn't notice the difference. More dudes know what the ///M is and flock to it to ask questions and all that. I don't really care either way, because I didn't get it to impress people, I got it for fun, and boy is this car fun
No regrets here!
