Caveat: All M3s ride hard, so hard that my current GF, who doesn't drive and has a long-term back issue, won't ride in it. Fortunately, she also has $$$ to burn and bought me a 2015 Prius 4 to haul her around. I must say I'm enjoying the 50 mpg, in absurd contrast to 14.5 combined in the e92.

I am 55 at the moment. My current whip, a 2011 E92 Comp is my 14th BMW I have owned. In fact I have owned nothing but BMW's for the last 26 years. I was delivering pizza back sometime around 1995 when the GM turd pile I was driving died. I went to a friend’s car lot and the only 2 things I could afford was a Mazda RX7 and an E21. I drove the Mazda first, of course, because sports car. It was beat, a real rough example and thank god I didn't get that. Then I drove the E21. It was by no means a special car, a base model 1982 320i in Alpine White with a god-awful blue interior. But it was in better shape than the Mazda. And it drove so well. It was fun, it made you look forward to driving. I was not new to cars or anything, been a mechanic in one capacity or another all my life and had a number of "hot rods" when I was younger (2 '60's Mustangs as the highlights). But this WAS new to me, the handling, the connection to the road. It was not about power, since it didn't have any, but you could throw it around a curve like it was on rails. Anyway, that was the catalyst for my love affair with BMW’s. And it got better from there, as over the years I moved up the food chain more or less continuously. Though I have not been in a financial position to buy new since they drove planes into buildings, I have gotten more and more picky as I have aged and in general the cars have been in better shape. Also being able to do all my own wrenching helps in a huge way. Below, not in chronological order, is what I have enjoyed over the years. 2 E21’s (1 was a ’83 320is in Hellrot over Black with Recaros and a nearly complete restore) 2 E30’s (both 87’s, both Zinnoberrot , both 325is) 1 E32 (750il for the then-wife, big v12 was insane, as were the maintenance bills….) 2 E36’s (both M3’s, 1 vert and 1 coupe) 3 E46’s (all verts, 1 M3 ordered new in 2000, took 18 months to get) 1 E92 (current whip, garage queen, 38k miles, mostly original) 1 F32 (wife’s current car, a 430i M-Sport Alpine over Coral Red, suits her well) 1 R53 (Yes, still a BMW, daily for 6 years, drove the wheels off) 1 R55 (JCW Slicktop, current daily and a serious blast to drive if not really all that fast) Anyway, I can think of no reason why I would drive something else, unless I come into some good money and move up to a P-car or something. Not likely to happen, but one can dream. In any case, they will likely have to pry my dead hands off of a BMW steering wheel when they put me in the ground.

According to the poll, at 44 I'm older than 3 out of every 4 M3 drivers. Yikes. When did 44 become the new 65?

30 now, bought my 2012 e92 ZCP end of 2020 when I was 29. This has been my dream car since it came out, just glad I got to own one. Timing was perfect when I picked it up too; got it with 97K kilometers for a good price. Loving this car!
