Am I missing out on anything if I purchase an 08 E92 with no nav?
I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death, but I guess my search skills just aren't that good. I'm interested in an 08 E92 with no nav. At first I wasn't considering an 08 given that the price difference between an 08 and 11+ zcp wasn't all that much, but I found a clean, low mileage 08 example and am now seriously considering it.
1.) Are there any modes the car can't get into because of the no-nav option? 2.) Are there any facelifts or interior changes for the E92 from 08 -> 09 -> 11+? 3.) Is there any items that are more prone to wear and tear in the 08s? Thanks! |

IF you always wanted an M3 OP with Nav then I would not settle for less than that, period. Over my 39 years of life I have bought plenty of stuff that I compromised here and there only to regret later. Not sure what your situation is but when I bought my M last week it took me long 7 months of searching and looking for the right one so I wouldn't compromise if possible.

I personally wouldn't consider a m3 without nav.
The nav just makes your life so much easier if you:
That said, if you are planning to track and want a stripper, I don't see anything wrong with going for a non-nav model. My car is my DD that I purchased 2 weeks ago. I think I made a good choice. Can you do everything without Nav unit? I think so. Do I want a M3 without Nav? Hell no. |

If it truly is a good deal, then definitely consider buying the car. |

I wouldn't use the car's nav - 08 or later. At the same time I wouldn't get a car without a CIC/CCC, 'cause it gives you a lot more than just a nav.

I've always preferred my M3s without navigation. BMW navigation is immediately outdated, pixels go bad, and it's just another electric item to give you troubles.
- The M button settings can be adjusted through the M button. - The service interval notifications will come through your CPU/instrument cluster. - A smart phone can easily handle all media needs and the most up to date navigation maps/apps. IMHO, you are not missing out with the lack of navigation... coming from an owner with a 2011.75 who specifically sought out a car without navigation (same goes for my former 2005 e46 M3). i'm one of the few e9x owners that don't have navi.. do i wish I had a screen? yes but I had navi in my 650i (never used it) so I didn't think it was that big of a deal
i was very specific about my other options i wanted. e93/vert dct only red only so i compromised after months of searching the perfect car (aside from not having navi) came along and I went for it. no regrets but I am considering putting an aftermarket system in there which has way more capability than the stock system.. the only thing that bothers me is the non-oem look

I have a 2013 ordered new with ZCP and individual paint. No stupid nav.
Last year I bought a 2011.75 E90. Again, no nav. Neither of these were mistakes. Navs date the hell out of a car. If you use a 2008 model nav it seems like you are using a sun clock. Like if you were in the middle ages. Then you use a 2012 and it feels ok. However, beware, because when you use a 2015 it seems like the 2012 is from the stone age. And by now they've done two more revisions to the 2015 one! I also really dislike the double hump dash No nav FTW |

Have you driven a non-zcp vs 11+ zcp? I'm not going to do any serious tracking so I'm not sure if the premium is worth it for me. It's just so hard to find a 11+ zcp 6MT on the west coast and all the ones I've found are either way overpriced or sold same day

I track both of them. They both have used OEM suspension until it's time to upgrade to JRZ/MCS |

I have an 08 w/ Nav and like other were saying. I wish I opted out of having it. Looks ugly and dated, basically useless with technology now a days. On top of that don't really care for the double hump on my dash.
Since I found my car for a good price used and it have everything else I wanted I jumped on it. All e92 seems to have the same problems regardless of year. Throttle Actuator, Rod Bearings, etc... the same in all years. LCI tails would probably be the only thing I wish I had coming out of the showroom, but can be easily added later.

Count me in as one of the people that like having the screen for menu access, entertainment details and the use of the map when driving in an unfamiliar area. I do not typically use it for route guidance, but I do look for alternate roads if need be. I was at a party last weekend in a neighborhood I'd never been in, their house was like 9 turns and zig-zagged in and I was able to route myself out using the map itself without having to break out my phone to map myself out.
I personally do not mind one bit the "double hump". I think it looks loads better than the tablet screen they stuck on top of my wife's F30 dash. I think those look like an afterthought. At least in our cars, it looks like it was designed to be in there from the beginning. The person that buys your car years from now may not be an enthusiast and may want the screen for the same or other reasons. I think the interior looks really basic without it. These are supposed to be "sport luxury" cars, yeah? Most, if not everyone on this forum is an enthusiast. The feedback you receive might be a little biased here. |
