Do Not Buy From Ecs Tuning

This is the worst vendor experience I have ever had in my life. Coming from a car enthusiast, you want all your stuff prestine and perfect, and you don't want your car looking like crap.

I chose to buy my trunk from ECS tuning since these guys were supposed to be reputable. I've been a long time customer of theirs, my roof rack, ski rack, bike rack, etc have always been purchased from ECS.

I purchased this trunk back in february when they were doing a free shipping sale, the first trunk came in damaged, and they had returned it and exchanged it (delayed 3 weeks), when the trunk came, I had it sent out to the body shop to be painted, (This is the fiberglass trunk with CF spoiler). Everything came out fine, and I had the car sit out in the sun for a bit and bam, all this warping and bubbling came up. The body shop had mentioned that its the quality of the fiberglass, and they were happy to repaint it for me at no cost, since they said they backed up on their painting and told me it was the fiberglass.

I ended up contacting ECS and have been going back and forth with them for a good 2 months, and the latest response I get is they will refund me and I will be responsible for paying the return shipping, since "the trunk was not intended to be painted"

They are recommending the trunk to be used as an exposed fiberglass trunk.

Trust me, don't buy from ECS Tuning, you might even get a better product from a ebay vendor.

look at the 2nd to last picture, where the side of the trunk meets the rear quarter, do you see a wavey dip? thats the fiberglass dipping due to the heat.

You could just edit the photos and use arrows or circles to show the areas of concern. I can see them, though. "Meant to be installed unpainted"? Wow.

exactly. I'm pretty shocked. Even if it was fully cf, it could be painted.

Yeah....who buys a fiberglass trunk and leaves it unpainted? But that's besides the point....b/c if it *weren't* painted, it'd still warp. *smh* at that excuse.

exactly. Only crappy fiberglass/cf would warp. you don't see people with a Arkym trunk complaining about it warping.

Like I said, i'm done with the excuses that they are showing. They clearly don't care.

Waiting for ECS nutswingers to enter the thread and call you out for not being satisfied.

This is an inexcusable piece of trunk.

I don't care if they've sold 100 of them or 10000 of them, this should be fixed NOW.

While I have had success with Ecs tuning many times - that trunk is clearly a defective low quality trunk. To question that is inexcusable. They should refund you for paint and the trunk and you should toss it in the dumpster.

learned the hard way never to trust them for anything that isnt OE/M. Got a eurobumper that was a nightmare but at least they refunded me. Hope you can get them to own up to that piece of trash...

I think you definitely need to stay away from any of their custom body parts. They are typically from a random hodge podge of outside vendors which I dont even think they validate the products they are selling. Terrible practice and is ruining the good will they have as a great resource for OE/M parts.

Stick to brand name products that are known to be of good quality, that is probably some low priced junk, remember you get what you paid for when buying cheap stuff of unknown quality.

They're pretty good when it comes to ordering basic items like OEM parts and maintenance items, but not sure what your order was

The Ecs tuning csl trunks are trash! I ordered one last year, full carbon fiber e90 csl trunk (actually fiberglass with carbon skin, lol). Got it in and after doing a test fit the fitment was horrible. Major gaps and lid had a slight wave to it. Also the holes cut out for the license plate lights were way to big. Light wouldn't even snap in, it just fell through! Luckily I was able to return it and got a full refund. It took several phone calls but ecs did give me a full refund. I know for a fact several members on here have had bad experiences with these trunks. I advised ecs they should discontinue them and find a better product! These trunks are definitely a low quality product!

I've never had a problem with ECS back in the day with my VW. I guess times have changed. At least EAS is just a stones throw away from me.
