Same with in-cabin which where we live anyway.

Haha i'll try my best. Thanks for the info, but most likely won't include all of that.

Also remember I have my second sample on the way as well.

No it's not a coldstart, the car was warm. Kreissieg in general sounds like that with a catless x-pipe.

Needs a little more sound with the valves closed, IMO.
A clip cruising at 1,900 RPM would be nice since that's where the engine tends to drone.
Great job!

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

my cousin took a few drivebys but cut them early and they didn't come out so well haha.

some more insight after a couple days...

valves closed is like full stock. zero drone whatsoever, you can't even tell the car has an exhaust. whenever I see a cop around I close them and proceed unseen.

valves open is an animal. I took my little brother to pickup lunch today and he said; wow you changed your exhaust? I said, why you don't like it? He goes it sounds great... it sounds like those one seater race cars. I laughed when he told me that haha.

I'm going to ask about increasing the volume a tad when they're closed.

I'll have the second sample maybe tomorrow or Tuesday and I want to immediately put it on to see the difference since im also excited about it.

I also need to either get my stock x pipe back or test it on a stock e90

Decibel meter while driving by possible? For us who are seeking to pass sound limits at tracks...

it's hard to really get you an exact number. because correct me if I'm wrong, Laguna seca is taken like 50ft away?

@Bomiz yup but anything is better than nothing! I figure just measuring from the side of the road would be good enough for some sort of data point

Got it.

Are you preferring this test with or without cats? And i'm presuming you want them closed

With cats and muffler closed

Example here, I did this and it read 93.8 dB at the max reading. I managed to pass the 90 dB sound at laguna likely due to the further measuring distance there, but very much borderline nowadays (was using instantaneous mode, should have used max mode)

Got it. Like I said before right now I don't have cats on so it'll have to wait a little.

But if we go off the sound without cats. With cats on It should be even quieter than stock.. for this prototype

Just watched your video. Without cats, and valves closed. It's quieter than that

Even though this is a valved exhaust. If people are interested in different designs, like a race exhaust, straight piped exhaust, or any other style.. if there's enough people interested I can develop something else as well

These are 80mm Straight cut tips with the wrong diameter inside, I just put them on to see the sizing.

I'll be trying to get a 83mm tip custom made for the project.

Im almost positive I've seen systems that can partially open the damper, true? I wonder what it would sound like with the damper at say 15%-20% open.

I also see you're partial in Vancouver. Does this mean us Canadian's won't get the shaft when ordering for once? lol

Posting an update since I haven't said anything in a few days.

I was expecting to receive my second sample earlier this week. Long story short they told me it shipped a week prior and never did, I got super angry and upset... and they ended up shipping it on Monday/Tuesday. Because of the misfortune of this, I convinced them to fabricate sample tips for me. These tips will only fit on the second sample, and if I end up producing the second one it'll be fine, if not I just have to have them change the ID of the tips.

In terms of the tips I had them produce. I guesstimated the overall length, which I think should work. It's a Straight Cut Single wall Stainless Steel Tip. They sent me a picture of the sample last night and it does look good. If they work out it'll be available in a few different color options. The OD of the tips is 83mm, which should be perfect and beautiful.

In the end.. Tracking shows the second sample arrives Monday 7/9, and i'll be documenting and posting pictures of everything once again.

Here's a picture of the sample tips:

totally interested! love the deep throaty yet loud sound when valves are opened, actually sounds less raspy than other valvetronic exhausts... i was just thinking about switching my gintani sport rear section to a valvetronic setup. A decibel meter is a must if you ask me
