Nelson Racing Wheel

Has anyone had experience with NRW? I ordered a wheel about 7 weeks ago and haven't been hearing much from them. I was told they are in peak season but floating money for 7 weeks isnt the ideal situation.

I have experience. I had him do all of my interior trim in custom hand laid 1x1 weave. I was one of his 1st experimental trims. He was super communicative initially, but as soon as he received my parts, he went dark and then it became increasingly harder to get a hold of him. He promised me a 4 week turnaround time, but kept coming up with excuses as to why it was taking longer. Literally 6 months later, I finally received all of my trim back. I feel like he blew up and takes on a lot more work than he can handle. Then over-promises and under-delivers. My trim isnt perfect by any means, but the price is right. And fortunately for me, my M3 is not my daily, so having the car without trim for 6 months wasnt a huge deal. More so just annoying to have to wait that long and constantly be pushed aside for other jobs, and not hearing back for weeks on the status of my trim, etc.
Best of luck.

not trying to defame his business but given that his bmw wheels look exactly like the ones offered in china there may be a chance he's sending your parts to china to be re-trimmed, just a guess

This is definitely not true. China steals a lot of his photos. I know for a fact that all of his work is done by him and his team (1 or 2 other guys). This is why it takes so long to get work done. Its all custom and hand-laid. Very very time consuming.

well i wouldn't say china steals his photos because plenty of guys have bought the exact wheels locally in china and shown them off, mind you im in a E9X M3 chat group of around 320 members...
but you are right i have no evidence to accuse him, it was just a wild guess

Could be possible, I suppose!
Either way, there are plenty of other options other than Nelson Racing Wheel. And based off of my own personal experience, I won't be buying from him again. But thats just me.

Seems like my case, keeps coming up with excuses why its taking months longer than expected. I'm going to try to get my money back through the bank since they decided to cut off the customer service.

I was shocked with my experience considering how many people love him/talk about him in BMW groups.

Wow. Yep, sounds EXACTLY like my experience.
The only reason why I didnt file a claim with PayPal was because I sent ALL of my trim to him. And if I did that, he would have just kept my parts.

If you havent sent him a core wheel or anything, then screw him. File the claim and get your money back! Sucks to hear man. Good luck.

Same story here, he was very responsive before I made the payment, it's been 6 weeks still no updates, emailed him on 10 days ago still no response, he made me make a payment as a direct bank transfer through account number so no PayPal involved. Not happy with customer service

Same story here as well. Ordered and paid for the wheel in August, and still nothing here and communication has been sparse.

The reasons I've received so far are owner had a wedding, backlog of orders, and some core wheels were not up to standard to work on. I appreciate the last reason as it shows the high standard of quality. But its been nearly 3 months now.

What is strange is that they are making new products now - carbon engine covers and carbon sunroof deletes. You'd think they would concentrate on the backlog of wheel orders (their core product offering?)

I am unsure what to do. I've sent multiple emails, most of them go unanswered. And I'm concerned if its challenging to get an update on ETA of order, imagine if there was an issue, defect or a warranty claim.

Its a shame, as I really rate their wheels, and from what I can see their standard and attention to detail is one of the highest out there. Has anyone here started the refund process?

What other options would you recommend for a legit carbon wheel for an e92? Is Carbontastic any good?

What’s the latest here - have you gone to claim your refund or have you finally heard back from them?

Honestly I’m not sure but I see a lot of different vendors on Instagram who do carbon wheels.
azaautowheel comes to mind. Also Mashimarho. Not sure what wait times look like from those guys. Might be worth reaching out.

Thanks, Ive heard good things about AZA. In fact I was considering them and nearly pulled the trigger until I came across NRW. I liked the way they paired the beefier wheel with carbon. But now I'm wondering...

Hmmm so what are you going to do? Wait or pull out?

Did you just ask for a custom wheel? Did you include their paddle shifters too?
