Test pipe and emission testing
If I get test pipes with a tune that removes the CEL, will the car pass the emission test that uses just OBDII, no sniffer? It's in Illinois if it matters.
Thanks. Last edited by Dougeefresh; 11-11-2013 at 09:37 AM.. |

The tune should be done to simulate the rear 02, so that you pass OBD2 readiness. These are the "off road" option tunes, for legal purposes. I believe Evolve, AA, BPM and others have this option.

What I figured out is that because it's illegal to remove cats and if you do, you are supposed to fail the test, no tuners will come out and say that their software will circumvent the test set up by government to check for illegal mods on your car. That's like aiding and abetting criminal activities, which can get the company in some hot water. And divulging that kind of information in a forum is like painting a bullseye. If you want a definite answer call the tuner and they will tell you.
