Am I having too much fun driving my M3?

I've had this 09 m3 since october and I find myself every day trying to find a longer way to and from work or the beer store just to drive the car a little more. I especially look for any roads which are new and have curves or nice round abouts. Please tell me I'm not the only one who tries to make a 20 mile trip out of my 5 mile drive to work just for the fun of it, even with the rising gas prices. 93 pump gas is now around $4.10/gal here.
I'll even end up making multiple trips out to the store in a week just to get more driving time in, which is something I never used to do. Please tell me this fun doesn't get old.
Cheers,
TX.

Good to see I'm not alone. Now I just have to figure out how to stop my girl from getting mad at me that I spend more time with my car than I do her with her.
The gas prices do worry me a little. I have a friend in Canada who told me today he pays $1.49/Liter which is $5.60 a gallon so to fill up our cars it is $96 and since we are nearly 1 to 1 exchange rate this isn't too far off from an actual price. I'll still buy the tank of gas when it gets to $5 a gallon. My investment firm has gas slated to hit 5 to 7 dollars a gallon $USD by summer. I may have to cut back some of my "joy riding" if it goes that high.

I really just wanted to own the one and only V8 M3 before the EPA forces BMW to switch to a turbo 6cyl in (2014?) correct me if I'm wrong on the year, but I know the V8 will never be in an M3 again so I had to own one. I will probably never sell it and will continue to keep it just because I cant find it again if I sell it.

Maybe the turbo 6 will be just as quick, but I love the sound of the v8 individual throttle bodies as I push past 3 Digits before the end of the interstate onramp. Even at that point the car wants to go faster, but sanity says lift the foot off the gas.

I get out with this MASSIVE grin every time I drive it.

I love driving for pleasure. However with gas prices on the rise my wife and I will most likely use the M for weekend and both get our Motor Cycle license for more pleasure and less gas consumption.

Then we pay $0.10 more a litre for premium (98RON)... So in AUS $1.54 a litre over Easter. Heh.

My ~5 mile work commute generally is at least ~10miles on the way there, sometimes ~20 miles on the way home. I love driving the car, that's why we bought 'em.

my car is not my DD (nor a M3 either ), but i sometimes take it to work on Fridays, go the long way around the city to get there, and end up going for a 2-hr road trip around the city for no reason after work... in the summer, i take the top down, drive 25 min to go to the liquor store, when there's one about 2 minutes from my place... i hate going shopping with my fiancee, except when there's a 30-minute drive to get there... i drove 12-hr in one week-end once to go pick up a friend who lives 3 hrs away so that she can spend the week-end in town...
bottom line is, i think we all drive the extra mile for no reason because we love driving our cars

I def find reasons to get out of the house just so I can drive the M even if I don't need anything. No way I'm finding a longer way home from work though!

I guess I am not alone in this late night M madness. I spend hours in garage washing and waxing and beg my wife to run out and get anything she may need from the store. She says I look like a little boy when I'm leaving the house to drive my car.

Now I just traded a beautiful Mercedes E63, 507hp sedan, which was by all means an awesome car, so I am no stranger to cars. But the M3 is just plain fun to drive and it never gets old. I'm so glad I bought the M3 and not a 911...

Take the long way home.

You can never have too much fun. I find myself just grinning anymore when flooring it because this car is so fast. It keeps getting better.
My favorite thing to do
Now is when stopping-flip it over to manual mode an downshift-from 3-2 at about 4500k. It sounds amazing.

Only thing that will bite you in the ass is gas prices and cops.
From Feb. It's already 25$ more to fill up.
