That’s what I would do. Have them install it AFTER the crossover.

I just found a full titanium forward x-pipe with 2 resonators for $600 dollars on Alibaba. Might be worth looking into.

The price for 5 or more is $299 - it’s probably worth trying out.

if it works, why would you buy anything else with these kind of prices - and the location of the X Pipe.

I sent the seller a message and this is the pricing they provided me - it's $779 Shipped (exclusion of taxes/etc) for orders of 5-10. Anything under that would be $879 shipped. Shipping would be air express and they did not mention whether it'd be in stainless or titanium.. I'd assume stainless considering the pricing of it..

Where do you guys buy the Gesi 10025 cats? Seems like they are discontinued and I'm having trouble locating a reliable dealer in the US. Most results are in CA since that's where Gesi is located.

Came here to say I finally found my goldilocks setup with the Bimmerworld Resonated X-Pipe, Gesi 300-cell HFCs in the secondary position, and a Corsa rear section.

The ESS X-pipe with HFCs in the primary position and its monstrous resonators paired with the Corsa was previously my favorite, but it was just a little too quiet up top. Tried the BW without the HFCs and it was too raspy and the catless smell gets old quick.

I had some Gesi HFCs welded in and now it's perfection. The exhaust smell is pretty much nonexistent from what I can tell. Gone too is the unavoidable rasp at lower RPMs. Don't get me wrong, there is still some rasp below 3-3.5K RPMs if you floor it (had to test for science ) but on partial throttle at those lower RPMs it's easily avoidable. I actually like what rasp remains. Gives it some character and maybe I have some bias having lived with an S54 before.

I'll get some exterior sound clips eventually, but for now here's a video from inside with my phone just sitting on the seat. Max RPMs in these videos is around 6500 because I was dealing with some traffic. Wasn't planning on videoing anything, but after the first couple redline pulls I felt it was too good to not document

Hey I’m trying to do something similar, install a HFC to a car with existing test pipes. Can someone tell me the exact model name/inlet outlet dimensions of the Gesi cat that fits our cars? Appreciate it.

You need the 2.5" version.

I finally got around to getting some exterior sound clips. Sounds like a more refined Voodoo to me.

That sounds really good! It's got an excellent higher pitch to it.

Also, I don't think it sounds anything like a Voodoo (which is a good thing). I had a GT350 as a company car and I thought it sounded terrible, with lots of rasp, loud without having any pleasant tones to it. I was very disappointed, so much so that I had to switch out of it.

The goal was never to attempt to prevent a CEL. I’m tuned and know I have to swap my x-pipe every 2 years for smog anyways. With the HFCs in the secondary position I’ve got OEM-like ground clearance (impossible with HFCs in the primary position) and eliminated the catless smell.

I have a similar setup with a fwd x pipe that’s in titanium, it’s from sub2speed house unresonated and no cats paired with an akrapovic rear. The power delivery is like the bimmerworld yes I’ve had the bimmerworld xpipe before and I fitted that with 2 12” vibrant resonators and it’s tight but it fits. I sold that and got the full akra system but it was to tame.

Like everyone has stated I also experience the low rpm metallic rasp from 2k-2.7k. I was hoping to hear what a quad resonated fwd xpipe sounded like but I guess the OP car is kaput. I do plan to put a quad resonator and report back. For now this is what the car sounds like with no cats or resonators.

Sounds great!

Just curious - between the BW x pipe, full Akra, and now the titanium forward x… were power gains more or less similar in each set up? Any additional pros/cons? Thanks!

The power gains I would say is mute in comparison, what I notice more is the increased torque in the mid range, it does pull smoother than the akra, I haven’t dyno’d since the akra and when I did that it pulled 392whp and 284wtrq you can see on the dyno sheet how the torque goes flat from about 3500rpm to the top. The first run was with the stock plenum and the macht schnell stage 2 intake. The second run was with a haimus plenum and the same intake. Runs were done on the same day. About 5 minus in between runs.

Also I’m running a stage 2 map from epic performance. I’ve had other tunes and by far this one is the smoothes and felt the most difference with no issues. I’ll dyno again eventually but for now the butt dyno tells me the fwd xpipe gives a sensation of a stronger mid range. I assume any fwd xpipe will give the same outcome. Main difference is the titanium xpipe I have weighs in at 8lbs. Along with the Akra it’s pretty light compared to a lot of other systems out there.
