PCA Thunder Again Sept 29-30

I just signed up (will be my first HPDE) for the PCA Thunder Again at NJMP on Sept 29-30, and plan to run on Saturday, and maybe Sunday depending on how things go and how my brakes hold up. Anyone else planning on doing this one?

I'm considering the PCA Schattenbaum event in November. I did an event with them in July and thought they were pretty good for a novice HPDE'er.

They seem to be a bit cheaper as well - it's late in the year but might want to consider it.

thanks. Will consider it depending on how the sept event goes. My concern with a November event though is that the weather is much iffier at that point with much greater chance of rain.

don't let weather deter you.

i was at lightning this past weekend with bmw delval cca. forecast said it was going to rain. one of the instructor said, even njmp doesn't have a skid pad, sometimes rain turn the track into a skidpad . but got lucky and didn't rain at the end.

my first time at lightning / njmp, it was good fun.

Cool. I'm looking forward to it. Won't be my first time on a track but it's been over 20 years and I've never been on track with a DD, so certainly going to start out slow .

I have a bit of prep to do as well so glad I have some lead time.

Funny thing...when I went in July, our 2nd day was pretty much a total washout. Track lost power and all.

1st day was a lot of fun.

Can't predict the weather so might as well go with an open mind. That said, make sure to bring rain gear in case and boxes/tarps for your items in case it does rain.

exactly.

good thing about being a novice is i don't have to bring much stuff, all my stuff are in a recycle bin i just have garbage bag to cover it in case it rain...

saturday was very hot though. jean was all wet. oct-nov is better i think just from a temperature / heat stand point...

Oh, absolutely, and I will definitely consider it, but keep in mind a rainy day in July is quite different from a rainy one in November, at least in the Northeast!

Yes, less heat, but not sure I like the idea of cold wet jeans any better! ;-)

FYI - I'll be in the Blue run group, car number 03.

Most of the car prep is done. Did a fluid flush with some new Brembo LCF 600, swapped all 4 pads with some Stoptech Sport pads and put on new OEM front rotors. Going for tech inspection on Friday.
Also ordered some vinyl track decals because why not? :-)

Getting excited...

Black run group, number 14 here.

Just be mindful of the brakes as you build speed through out the day. That setup can get toasty if your keeping pace with most of the other blue/white guys of the group.

Thank you! Will do. I'm planning to work up slowly given I haven't been on any track in years, and do some cool down laps as well.
