M3 Mats - How Long They Last
My car is about a year and a half old with 20K miles on it. The M3 mats already look pretty beat up. I'm sure the winters here don't help much.
How oftern are you guys replacing the mats? I think I might buy a backup this summer and use those for the summer and the old ones for the winter. |

Start wtih a wash first, by using a high pressure washer, like the ones at self service car washes. Next get a good carpet cleaner (I like Folex). Test in a small area first. If it's all good, spray liberally onto floor mat and use a large brush (nylob bristles) to agitate the floor mat fibers. Then rinse it all off with a high pressure hose again and let it dry.

Either that or a set of WeatherTechs for the winter.

I have a set of All weathers that I swap out in my X6 during the winter months since I store the M. They do wonders and all you have to do is hose them off and dry

I can sell you mine if you want. I'm using all weather mats anyways. Mine are 1000miles old. PM me if interested.

Mine lasted 28,000 miles with no real signs of wear, daily driven. I got OEM rubber mats this time around, since I got tired of re-applying my stoners liquid repellant every 6 months. It's good stuff, but it was kind of annoying to apply correctly. Maybe the repellant helped a little with the wear?

My mats in my old car was used relentlessly, all seasons, for 6 straight years, all it took was a pressure spray with a garden hose and a scrub to make it look new. Of course after 6 years, there's spots on the mat where you put your heel and that spot will always be depressed for the life of the mat, but you can't help it.
If you're really concerned, I would just clean it once, then buy a second set of mats, and rotate them through the winter season, with this, I think your mats would look good for at least 4 more years. Most of us were lucky enough to get a free set of "BMW" mats with our M3 mats. Last edited by mdosu; 02-15-2011 at 09:20 PM.. |

My stock mats started fraying at 6000 miles. Very sad. I put in weathertech mats and love them. My stock mats look bad enough where I'll probably just get a new set when summer comes.

Right! Chances are, once you put them in, you'll keep 'em all year round

take the number of miles on your dash board multiply by the number of miles you drive in a wk then divide by the model year(2009, 2010) of your car, then divide by 365. finally divide this number by coefficient of expected product failure, 0.5. The number is time in years so u can plan for when to order new mats. never fails. i sell mats so let me know when u need them.
