I could definitely feel my suspension is getting old and worn out after I drive the M2. I sold the e92 m3 after I realize I get tired fast with the oldie. E92 m3 is a great car and its the longest time vehicle I drove, but its getting old so it needs some love and passion.

If you buying e9x m3, make sure to change all worn out suspension bushing, change TA and rod bearing. Then its golden.

If I were you, I would go f series M.

SYT has a unique take: Many on these forums say that the S55 is better for street use because "torque".

"The S65 has no torque low in the RPMs!"

and I say, "Why would you ever be low in the RPMs?" ��

But stock for stock, yeah the S55 is probably better for the application. I don't think the S65 is all that great without the primaries removed. Spend the $2000 to get into FBO territory and that difference is largely removed. Similar 0-60, similar gearbox, similar quarter mile, etc.

For the tech argument, I think that CIC iDrive has aged pretty well. Don't get the fuss over 'single-humps'. I keep a button assigned to turn my screen off, but having maps as a reference for blind corners and navigation is nice. I think the E92 is a more difficult car to parallel park, but mine came with a backup cam retrofitted. You're losing out on the video game style 360 cams, and maybe the power gauges?

I understand how this could be too involved for most people, but I think the platform is worth it. A 'tighter' feeling car doesn't always translate to faster times. Most of us aren't pros anyways.

I think OP is not coming back, but we're all having a fun conversation anyway.

An interesting thing of the 'no torque' discussion is that, while cruising on the highway and passing people while changing lanes, the E9X actually feels more powerful than the F8X.

The F8X has plenty of lag at low rpms and even though I have a CS I find myself downshifitng one or two gears to get better response. The E9X requires zero shifts, by the time the CS is pulling hard the E9X has finished the maneuver.

So although some people think the S55 is some kind of torque monster it is not. It is a linear engine that requires revs to be happy. Less revs than the S65, but if you thought that going WOT on the highway at 2500rpm was going to shock and awe, think again.

Even with a turbo engine the core BMW M ethos is still the same, I strongly appreciate how tracking a M4 GTS is not much harder than a E9X.

Thanks for the great read guys! I've spent so much time in the for sale section, I never bothered to check my notifications so my apologies lol.

Since posting this, I've decided on an F80. Merely because I just can't get over how much nicer it looks than the E90. Most of the E90's I was looking at were 30-35k and it was a dice roll whether or not the RB were done or not.

I did drive my buddies '13 E92 a few weekends ago and man, I was impressed! DCT is amazing. My Type R is being picked up in a few weeks by its new owner so the hunt gets real now!

Were I buying today instead of 9 years ago, I would buy an F80 over an E90. Newer, better looking, faster, better handling, more modern, more convenient. But I like my E90 and itís paid for. Plus there is nothing else I could buy for the $20k my car might be worth. I think I would have to spend $50-100k to get a different car I would like more. I have two in mind - a comfy cruiser fast car like used last model E63 AMG Wagon or 911 Turbo model 991. Both can have big power and put it down due to AWD.

I started my journey going after E90's. But the more I looked the more I realized I should just go big or go home. Although I still find myself scrolling the E9x for sale section at times.

The long-term reliability of the F series M cars is the biggest concern I would have with this car, then the second largest known issue is the sound .. which is probably more important to me than the extra torque. The S65 is pretty bulletproof if one takes care of the big issues. NA is a big part of this plus the brilliant design (outside of the RBs, TAs). I can see my E90 going to 200K+ miles. Too early to tell the same about the F80, but maybe it's OK just too many horror stories I've heard about on the older F10 M5.

Thank you. I'm excited for what's to come learning about a new brand. I believe I turned this road long ago, it just took me a while to realize it.

I really love it. I searched my whole childhood for them. Now that I own one at the ripe young age of 35, I find the German stuff more interesting. You only life once.
