Chris_PDX are you going to drop in a new motor? It’d be interesting to see what happened to your motor. Obviously a seized rod bearing from the hole (or was it)? Head might still be good so you’d only need a short block (Lang?).

Couple fun garage projects. Some titanium springs (a little massaging needed to repurpose them for the windshield wipers, but they'll work). i picked up a spare wiper arm/motor assembly and i'm still mulling over how i'm going to optimize it. besides the obvious titanium hardware swap, there is some fat to trim. same with wiper arms- spare set in hand to play with. i know i could just remove the whole system, but what's the fun in that? i might also just run one wiper for the cool factor.

Also located some 100% titanium hose clamps for the throttle bodies.

About 90% done with installing my old Pole Position using BK mounts for the OE sliders.

I guessed on the fitment first try and that got me pretty close. Seat looks off center from the outside but from the actual seat you can't feel it at all. I'll goof with it a bit but it doesn't need to be perfect.

The lower position is very nice. Curious how this big car is going to feel sitting lower and more held in place.

I'm not disappointed in the quality of the BK mount but based on what I've seen others post I feel like maybe it's a bit hyped? Nothing about this setup feels that much better than other aftermarket slider setups I've used in the past on other cars. I've used my share of crappy ones but I've also had some that were as good as I could ask short of something not on a slider.
***disclaimer, I haven't actually driven the car yet, just sat my butt in the seat and wiggled around***

I do think I'm ultimately going to try and swap it to my power slider from my OE seats but I'm not in a huge rush. I really just want to go test the car with a bucket. My intention all along was to keep my Sportsters in the car 95% of the time and the few times I really want the extra holding I'd just have a complete ready to drop in setup with my Pole Position. That said, if the bucket makes the car feel that much better instantly it may just stay.

I still think you should try running it for another track weekend, I bet the viscosity won't be vastly different. The 300V is doing a decent job of not totally shearing out of grade from the fuel dilution.

Probably, but not until this winter. Going to just shove it into the 3rd garage bay and leave it for now. We haven't pulled the motor yet so we don't know if the head is damaged or anything.

Man would a 3rd garage bay be nice. That's one of the few things we had to compromise on with my current home. Next house will have more garage space for sure although it won't be anytime soon.

such dedication, roastbeef

how much do you weigh?
have you looked into replacing your bones with titanium to see if that would help with the weight savings?

Hose clamps?

http://www.titan-marine-hardware.com...ose-clamps.htm

That's a fantastic idea, no downside really other than cost. $75 for a set of 8 of the #36's, saves about half an ounce per clamp = ~0.25-0.3lb off the top of the motor!

Have you looked into swiss cheesing the intake plenum

This is the classic "refrigerator problem". If you buy a 3 car garage, you'll just fill that space and start complaining about needing a 4 car garage. Even Jay Leno needs multiple warehouses...

Also true, but I'd like to give it a shot

What I really want it for more than anything is a way to get the car farther away from all the kids stuff.

This is exactly why we expanded ours. Had room for truck, both cars and racecar in the existing footprint, but anytime you wanted to get anything out for a bike ride or whatever it was like playing Operation and the buzzer was the paint on the cars

now we have that critical extra 8' beyond the end of the overhead door for activities

One idea might be to go rent a storage locker somewhere and keep the car there. Plenty of space to store tires, a spare engine, or whatever else you want.

What club failed you for that? I'd escalate and have someone else inspect it.

These aren't solid bushings, they will have flex in them...

No idea why they would fail that.

Not a club but a reputable indy shop I found to do the DCT fluid top off in the time frame I needed. They also sent me an estimate on the tech inspection of $150. Not repairs, just doing the inspection.

They're in for a surprise if they expect me to pay that much.

Porsche charged me $300 on a CPO car that I had not even driven off the lot. I thought they'd just sign the form.

Man was I pissed. But I paid. I am pathetic.
