Why do Maserati speedos rest at 15mph?

I have been bored at work lately, and using my free time to look at cars I will never purchase. One of these is the 05 Maserati Grand Sport, and every one has a picture which shows the speedo at 15mph. Why is this? I need to know!!

Strange. I thought at first maybe it went to zero after you start the car, but there's acutally a physical peg there, so it will never zero out. I guess if you're going less than 15MPH it's not really important to know exactly how far under you are, but it's sort of silly that no other vehicles have any problems letting the needle drop that far.

Something about looking fast even while stationary.

just make sure you've got some clear room ahead of you before you put it in gear.

Damn skippy. That's amusing - hadn't noticed it before. Probably just one of those little quirks that makes a Maserati different. Italians are weird sometimes - must come in our genes.

So it's not even true to scale, those Italian's cannot even do that right!

My dad's F335 speedo rested at 15mph too.

Must be a Ferrari/Maserati thing.

It's done to give you the sense of speed even when you are standing still!
