BBK Brake Pad for 18Z Brembo (Cayenne Retrofit Brembo)
Looking for help on aftermarket brake pads that fit these brembo calipers? Not satisfied at all with the OEM Brembo pads and looking for an alternative. Thanks for the help.
These are retrofit Cayenne Brembos from 2004-2010 Model 18Z. |

If it uses the same pad as the GTS then the front pad FMCI number is D1014. Hawk HB501 uses the D1014 pad shape and offers it several different pad compounds. Carbotech also offers D1014 pads with multiple pad compound options. Plenty of other manufacturers should make the D1014 pad shape.
The rear pad appears to be FMSI D978. Hawk HB502 uses this pad shape. Carbotech also offers D978 pads in multiple compounds. Other pad manufacturers will also have a D978 pad shape. |

You can confirm your pad shapes are correct by (1) visually comparing your pads to the FMCI pad shapes (this sometimes is sufficient to confirm the shapes), (2) measuring the pad width and height (height can be the pad compound radial depth, not the backing plate height, so check the FMCI dimensions carefully), and (3) measuring the pad thickness including the backing plate (some pad shapes are offered in multiple thicknesses). |

not looking to change direction here but are you not satisfied with the braking response or the ability to slow the car when the brakes are engaged? Im just curious to know how the stock brake master cylinder is performing with these larger calipers.

Ability to slow the car down…right from the get go when I apply the brakes It just doesn’t feel overwhelming confident when I slow down ESPECIALLY at high speeds. The brake pads are so uninspiring and I feel is holding back my new brakes. Will update you once I get new brake pads going with EBC Yellowstuff and i’ll let you know.

He had a very long pedal when he first drove the car and tried to bed the pads. He was going to rebleed the brakes to see whether the pedal would get firmer with little travel. Also let him know that if air got into the ABS/DSC system, it would need to be cycled to get the air out of the system. I explained the long pedal also could be due to calipers with larger piston areas compared to stock could be the cause of his long pedal.

So it sounds like your only concern left is initial cold and hot bite, correct? The pad shapes above might still be valid if your new calipers came from a Cayenne GTS because I didn’t search by 18z. I’ll do a quick search for 17z and see if the pad shapes are still correct. |

BMW uses a pad with an extremely aggressive initial bite to give people a feeling of high confidence in the braking system. I personally don’t like it especially in stop-n-go driving. It’s difficult to find a street pad with that same level of COF at low temps and strong braking performance/modulation at all temps. With your new brake kit, having such a high initial bite may cause you to overslow the car when braking. |

I am experiencing the same scenario on my 18z. Finished installing them last saturday from my boy's shop and going home was so scary cos the brakes was not biting at all. I would be 80%-90% on the brake pedal and it would slow down very minimal. Good thing it was like 1am in the morning when we finished so I got to go home safe. As well as the Parking brake, it's not biting as it used to. After I put the car on Parking brake it would still roll down slowly then stop. |

not sure about the normal brakes, but your parking brake needs to be adjusted after changing rotors.
