v1 or v2 M Performance Exhaust

Hi All,

I recently purchased a e92 M3 with 30k miles and it came with the M performance exhaust already installed, it sounds glorious.

Is there any way to check if I have the v1 or v2 model? Also, if i added test pipes, would I need a tune or other supporting mods? Would BMW service immediately notice test pipes and affect my warranty? Definitely dont want to give the warranty company any reason to hard ball me

Thanks in advance for any replies. Absolutely loving the car.

Congrats on the purchase!
Easiest way to tell if it's a V2 is by looking at the dimples under the muffler. If they're hollow, it's a V2. Test pipes are very visible and since you're in Cali, won't you need to put the cats back on to pass inspections? You'll want a tune with test pipes to get the most out of the mod and silence the check engine light.

Dont add test pipes. Doesn't sound good with the MPE.

Please add test pipes. It sounds great with MPE

This is the internet where opinions are everywhere.

I personally had MPE with MS test pipes and loved it, although it wasn't loud enough to me. It was also a V1 so I sold it out of concern for cracking. The best thing is to hopefully find someone with this setup and let your ears be the judge.

Agreed. Test pipes and MPE sound great. It's once you start changing the X pipe out the sound gets bad.

I am curious as to characteristics others found particularly preferable or less preferable.

Ex:
Perspective - inside car or outside car
bassier - xpipe
raspier - test pipe

If I found it raspier, I can separate that from general tone.

Bassier is something near physically perceptible
