I have been chasing this problem with no avail. The car starts up and will occasionally misfire on idle. Once driving the car is perfectly fine under any type of load(meaning on the gas). As soon as I take my foot of the gas the car stalls out completely no matter the speed.
Once I get stopped I can turn the ignition off completely and restart the car and it runs the same till it stalls again.
Using INPA and ISTA I have found a few things.
-only modification is catless full exhaust dual resonated from valve Tronic

What spark plugs did you use? What coils did you use?

Be very specific!

Did you buy coil packs from any source other than BMW? The “oem” coil packs are all junk. Hope you saved your old ones.

I would check the fuel system. Fuel pump might be going out.

This is the coils and spark plugs I used. They are OE parts and were professionally installed.

That's probably the problem. None of the non-BMW coils work on the s65.

The NGK plugs are fine.

*edit* what was the reason for the wholesale coil replacement? do you still have the old ones?

This. There are a couple threads on the subject if you search. Very recently ECS made a guy send them a video of a resistance check with a multimeter before they would refund the money for the junk coils.

You might also have a throttle actuator problem. Google those codes.

I hope you still have the stock coils. Those most likely would at least still work for the most part.

I've had some very poor experience in the past with ECS tuning. I've turned all my business to FCP as of late. Good luck on getting an RMA from ECS.

Let us know what you end up doing--but clearly those are non-useable coils.

Just to update you guys. One of my good friends works at a bmw dealer. Having him order the coils on discount directly from dealer will see how that goes

Awesome! I would suggest trying to get your money back from ECS. Coils for our cars are not cheap.

It’s crazy that a place like ECS is still selling coils that don’t work. This is a well known issue already. A company focused on selling BMW parts should know better.

Not just sells, but actively markets as part of a kit. Borders on a scam. I don’t buy from them anymore unless absolutely necessary.

It would also be helpful if those who have been down this road with them left reviews on these coils so that others don’t fall victim in the future.
