Who can pull BMW service records for a VIN? (not Carfax, like internal BMW service)

Only the dealer, and most are unwilling to do it unless you know someone. Beat you can do is call bmw to notify them of new ownership and then the dealer will be able to share a bit with you but not the standard read out of “customer states”

^This. The problem is this info comes along with customer data, and so they are not supposed to give this out. I have done business with my dealer for about 30 years now and know nearly all of the SA's and some techs, and they will still not give me a copy of this info. Best I have been able to get the last few times I wanted it was they would let me look at the screen and only where no customer data was present. I get why and personally have no problem with it. It is a pain however....

I'm good friends with my BMW service advisor and he's pulled maintenance records for me many times over the years on used BMWs I've been looking at, but he's told me more than once he can only see the service history from the 4 year/50K mile warranty period, after that he has no visibility into service records, unless it was serviced at his dealership.

So pulling info on 10+ year old BMW would not show any recent maintenance work, unless it was pulled by the dealer who's been doing the work.

Maybe someone else's service advisor has different/better access?

^^^ that's accurate. BMW DCS will only show repair work claimed through BMW (under warranty or recalls)
