Clear window tint?

I'm part of the small % that loves the look of our cars without any tint whatsoever. I want to get rid of my tint but I don't want the sun rays to damage my leather.

Is there such thing as a clear tint that can block the damaging UV rays and save my interior without actually tinting the windows?

Yup. They make like 70-80% tint for cars. 3M crystalline or llmar airshield are higher UV blocking tint products. Look for the ones that block the most IR as well.

Thanks derbo, will look into those two that you mentioned. I wander if the pricing is the same as regular tint

If you are just looking for high UV protection, any tint will do that. If you are looking for high heat rejection, those two are pretty good. Llmar Airblue, 3m crystalline and suntek CXP are three big name ones that reject more heat than normal tint.

Problem is most tint shops don't carry it as not a lot of people want clear tint

Yes, I would like both UV protection and also heat rejection so that 1) I don't get burned up in the sun and 2) my interior doesn't get chewed up by the sun rays either.

My fault. The suntek one is called CIR. You want to look for total solar energy rejection (TSER)

I have Suntek on all windows. The windshield is one shade darker than clear. We also have clear Suntek on our Touareg windshield and panoramic sunroof. It works great.

I had some basic 35% tint on my E46M that I replaced with Llumar Air 80. Loved that stuff. Not only did it have close to the fishbowl look that I preferred, but it blocked UV and most of the heat as well. I can post some photos if you'd like.
I have Huper Optic 35% on my E90 and if I ever have money burning a hole in my pocket, I will swap it for the Air 80 as well.

I have Llumar Air 80 on my front windshield and I love it. I have 35% ceramic on the sides and back, and it definitely makes a difference with the interior temperature.

I went with 3M Crystalline 80. Most people don't even realize the windows are tinted since the blue tinge is so slight (and the car has a dark interior). The shop charged me the same price as any of their other premium films.

The Llumar is too blue for my taste and I thought it looked cheap.

That looks like nothing is there! Awesome... so does that protect interior as well?

That 3M looks great .. but exactly the same as my Llumar? Could be the lighting/photos. I never thought the Llumar looked so blue or cheap, but maybe the Carbon Black helped blend it?

Yeah, to be clear, the high cost is just that you are forced to use absolute top end level tint if you go this route. If you're happy with 50-35% tint, you can save a *lot* of money and get tint that is 90-95% as good as the really expensive stuff.
