8 is child's play. I've fit 9 tires in my e90. 6in the back seat, 2 in the trunk and 1 in the front seat.

I laugh at "how do you fit 4"...muahahaha!

There are some sacrifices and recommended only for professional packers.

Found it. So I stuffed another tire in the rear footwell on the pass side for a total of 6. I got 2 in the trunk. 1 in the front seat.

At what point does a bbk start saving money? How many track days a year is the min to reach this point?
On my previous car I ran ra1 with carbotech rpe and xp10.(c5 z06) I was relatively easy on my brakes but I did " nurse" them and sometimes pump the pedal to reseat pads before heavy braking zones. I am in advanced / instructor group.
I I probably will only do 4 track days a year since I'm focusing on autox.
The big difference between this car and the c5 were that rotors were only $25-30 a pop!
Could one just get by with track pads and good fluid along with ti shims?
How many track days would rotors last on a pad like carbotech xp10 or higher?

That honestly depends on a bunch of external factors. I don't think the main purpose of a BBK is to save money, though. The question you need to ask yourself is if the upgrade is for you.

You're a boss. I had trouble fitting 4 in my E46 :

At 4 events/year I wouldn't say bbk is a clear money saving option. Initial thought is that 8-12 (or more) events/year in an intermediate/advanced group and the economics become more favorable.

But that's talking strictly economics. Factor in performance/feel/enjoyment for both track and street, and then often times decent resale value, bbk is the most worthwhile upgrade for the E9X, in my opinion. Even at 4 events/year. Going back to a stock car, the lackluster brakes were the first thing I noticed, and that was driving on the street.

The only thing about the brakes that pisses me off is the non-linear brake response. All it takes is a little twitch past a certain point of the pedal and I'm eating my steering wheel.

If a BBK makes the pedal feel and response more consistent, then I'm sold.

Feel is improved and more linear in my opinion. But depending upon your choice of pad the initial bite can be very strong. You'll have to recalibrate coming from stock or you'll be eating a lot of steering wheel

My leather doesn't taste as delicious as it smells.

Lol, seriously, though I'm gonna have to do some research. I don't mind buying the smaller BBK set up. I won't track this car. I just want to get rid of this non-linear response.

I'd try different pads first..

You'dbe surprised in the difference in initial bite, modulation , and release just by changing brands and/or compounds.

Save your money, most people don't even need BBK on the track if they know how to use brakes properly.

Even the people with the faster laptimes, they can most certainly do the same times via stock brakes with better/race pads and fluid. Especially that you are driving on the street, save your money and buy a Rolex =)

True that most people probably don't "need" BBK on track. False that most track guys are drawn to BBK as a result of improper brake technique.

BBK is not necessarily about lap times, although most find BBK confidence inspiring and more consistent than stock, leading to lower lap times. More about consistency throughout a session and component longevity. No thanks to replacing pads every 2 track days, or worse coming back to the pits after a spirited session and seeing they're cooked.

Lots of intermediate/advanced level guys have implemented every upgrade to the stock system and still found it lacking. That's not because they're riding the brake pedal 1/2 way down the straights.
