wrapping my car!

I have decided to vinyl my car myself. I plan on doing it very soon but just want some advice first.

I am having trouble picking a color. I really want Laguna Seca Blue, but I can't decide whether to go matte or not.

I have checked out the other threads (I can't find them now) of members vinyling their cars with no trouble by themselves and I think I can manage with a little help.

K questions...
What is the highest quality vinyl out there? 3M?
Where in Los Angeles can I buy the vinyl? I know about stickercity but really am not interested in giving them my business unless it's the last option.

Thanks in advance!

You should repost this is the right place.

No offense, but this really isn't a DIY project.

yea wrapping is not as easy as people say, it seriously isn't. And a whole car wrap is not something to undertake. I would try the mirrors or the roof first, and if it works out well, move onto the whole car.

The owner of C&C in LA has a Matte Leguna Secca Blue e90 if you want to see what it looks like. Just search through the MFEST pics and youll see it. I also saw a guy on here with Matte Orange and it looked sick! you should do that! good luck with your choice.

I once considered this, but then I spoke with someone who saw a wrapped car in person, and he said to me (knowing that I am a perfectionist, and I dont like half ass shit done to my car). He said, "NEVER do it, because it would bother you to see parts of the car that cannot be wrapped. For example, the wheel arches, its a very small piece of metal and it cannot be wrapped." So hearing that alone, that there would be exposed OEM paint in certain places is a deal breaker for me.

Try to tint a window first. If it doesn't come out perfect, you're WAY over your head on a car wrap man. Looks easy, but takes a lot of practice. Better leave it to a pro. Good luck.

Not sure that is true...

They wrap the wheel arches on the full-front-clip install of VentureShield.

My bestpiece of advice is 2 things: Take your time, and use a high quality material. 3M or oracal are good brands. Use a cast vinyl. It has a second laminated layer for protection and could be easily stretched without changing color. I used some calandered vinyl, and it ws fine for some flat parts, but couldnt be stretched much for pieces like the front bumper. Also, if youre not experienced with vinyl, I would not attempt the DIY. I wrapped about half my car in about a day with matte grey vinyl, but took it off. Take your time and PM me if you have any questions. Also, if youre interested, I sell vinyl wholesale from stickercity. It is very expensive, but there aren't many places you can buy in 58" widths and te 3M vinyl they ue is all at about that price. You can use other brands such as avery or oracl, but the 3M's price is right around where stickercity sells it at.

I personally haven't seen it, but this is just what I heard.

OP, you might be able to do the car itself, like the doors, and hood and roof and even bumpers. But what about the door handles? those would be tricky as hell if you ask me

He could leave the door handles in the original color, it may not look too bad. And if he did wrap them I believe they're not that hard to take off the door (but I could be wrong).

Cheers.

Based on all the posts and videos I have looked up on youtube, I may just end up vinyl wrapping the roof in matte black. I don't think I'd be able to get this done well enough for me not to notice all the imperfections every time I look at the car. Thanks for the input.
