2008 M3 new to me

Hello all!

Ok I just test drove a 2008 M3 coupe with 48,000 miles on it. Can't get a new one just yet. I'm coming out of my 2007 335i and just the test drive blew my mind. I'm reading as much as I can on the board but what are some things I'm going to enjoy over the 335i....? I pick the M3 up Friday when I return to the states.

Congrats.

If you liked what you experienced on the test drive, then you'll probably prefer everything about the M3 except the gas mileage. To pass the time until pickup suggest that you search "M3 vs 335". This has been discussed, a few times.

I went from a 2007 328xi to an 08 M3. There's no comparison. The chassis alone is night and day. The engine and trans combo is bad ass. It takes being in any given driving situation to really understand how these things deliver the power to the ground. My 328xi with big tires handled great. But the M3 goes through corners with ease and carries much more speed. It's the big dog, no question.

MDM kicks ass. Set up your M button to include MDM and your key dependent settings up from default.

I'm still giggling and spouting expletives in the car when I drive it. Holy crap, etc,.

Congrats, I went from an 07 335i to an M3 and I can tell you from first hand, it's night and day. As others have said MDM is awesome. Look into a tune but make sure it's updated to the latest software. The chassis, handling, ride, engine sound, all is amazing. Not the fastest but get her above 5k rpm and it'll put a smile on your face every single time. GL and enjoy in good health

Also came from an '07 335i (tune, plus many other mods) and the M3 really does stand apart. From the better chassis and LSD to the more refined/higher quality interior (L.O.V.E the seats and the steering wheel is much better).

The biggest difference, however, is the engine. If your 335 is stock, it will be better in EVERY way. If it's modded, I still give the M3 the edge due to it's superior linear power, eagerness to rev/respond and sound.

Congrats and merry Christmas to you!

50% of the parts / components are improved or different on the M3 when compared to the 3 series. Also 80% of the car is modified to some degree on the M3. There are several videos from the ///M Division in the link below my signature photos. Once you see the videos and drive your ///M3 you will know the difference and you will it

Here is one of the videos I speak of ----> Click

Similar, but not the same, the subframes, body panels (aside from the trunk and doors on E92) and chassis reinforcements are very different.

I had been planning on buying a used 370z and then an Infiniti G37. These cars are more within my price range. After I saw this first BMW video you posted, I fell in love with the M3. I'm keeping mine stock + jammer and tint. They did a damn good job.

Congrats on your new M3! Based on the test drive you probably already know the answer to your own question

CBS is spot on...be careful if you let the modding bug bite you!
