2020 Plans/Goals
Rhyary's thread made me think it would be a good idea for us to all share our goals and plans for 2020. We do this on TrackJunkies.org and it's always helpful to see what folks have planned.
I'll go first...but let me provide a little history first. I no longer track or even own an E9x. I started tracking in 2010 with one but felt like it'd be cheaper to track an E46 M3. I am not sure it worked out that way, but I have very happy with it. My build journal is here: http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=509148 The car makes 330 whp. It has full aero. MCS 2WNR. brembo 4 pt in front, stock calipers in the rear. I have only every run Pagid RS29's. Since 2014, I have pretty much focused on doing NASA Time Trials. I still do HPDE's from time to time, but really enjoy the competitive aspect of TT. I won the Texas Region TT3 championship in 2017 after finishing runner up for the previous 3 years. In 2018, I moved from Texas to Louisiana, but moved my car to VIR to run more of the NE tracks. I also started working with a professional coach. We officially set two TT3 track records (56.8 at LRP and 1:58.8 at VIR) and unofficially broke the WGI TT3 record (at the time) with a 2:00.8. Unfortunately, I spun two rod bearings that year at WGI and spent the winter rebuilding my engine. I ended up having problems with rebuild and had to buy a junkyard long block to finish out 2019. I didn't make any huge improvements in 2019 but did get some additional coaching and managed to win the National TT3 championship at Mid Ohio with a 1:31.9 on the Pro Course. So what are my plans for 2020?
How about you guys and gals? What are your 2020 plans? |

Great thread idea. My 2020 goal is to get on the track for the first time, planning on making Laguna Seca my home track.
I want to invest heavily up front on instruction to set a solid foundation. I hear you on the rationale of tracking a 'cheaper' car, I've been tossing around the idea of building a spec E46, but don't want to keep two cars. |

I’m going to get one year closer to retirement, and while I’m at it hopefully get a better job and move away from hell, errr, Carlsbad.

My plans blew up this year with COVID and the knock on economic effects. Focusing all of my efforts on improving at Road Atlanta. Hopefully can make it out there two more times this year.

My plans were to concentrate on NYST and LRP. LRP blew up May/April with June yet unknown. Thank God NYST is operational. I really like the social aspect of a trackday. With no exception, I get into a good conversation with someone. Either technical or otherwise, I always learn something with the variety of drivers. This blew up with a very isolating experience. |

Objectives for 2020:
-Get to 2:02 at WGI with the stroker E90 without stripping or aero or anything stickier than a R1s -See if the CS can match the E90 stroker time with the same conditions. The CS is just as fast in straights, but how much time will the worse steering and worse power response cost? -Get the CS suspension dialed in. Have I mentioned how hard this seems? |

Just signed up for june 5th with NASA at thunderbolt,
Does anyone know if this track is opened for track days? There is no info about it on their website. Going to take my 340i this time and would like to brake my pb 1:33 with this car. Car is stock with camber plates, pfc-08 brake pads/srf fluid, apex wheels with RE-71R tires. Same set up exactly when 1:33 was done last year.

I forget some of you old timers aren't on IG. Drill press came in the other day and I'm going to get started on a few other projects.

Tell me you are saving all of the metal drops in a big pile please. I want to see them on a scale with continuously updated pile weight.
