...Still in SHOCK... Got a BRAND NEW 06 M6 for less than an 08 M3
Still in shock, was 7 on the list for the E92 and had to order 5/16 for an 8/1 delivery. SG/FR DCT, and as we all know who lease, NO PROGRAM on the E92. So by some stroke of luck was attempting to calculate a payment on bmwusa and by accident selected the M6 (which right now has an amazing lease program). So I called my local dealer and got a quote on an 08 M6 with the same $ down. The payment was not that off even on an 08 M6 vs. 08 M3. So I started looking for a 07 M6 maybe to find a deal. Any BAM! Found an 06 BRAND NEW SG/SB loaded M6 an hour away from home. And let me tell you all with 100% truth that with the same $ down the 06 M6 with 114 miles BRAND NEW was $34 less a month. I am still in shock. I know that they are very different and I have been waiting for the E92 for over a year. But a car with a sticker of $109,250 is less that a car with a $68,800 with the same $ down. The discount on the M6 was large, but it was an 06 and they wanted to move it. And WOW #%*! what an amazing car. I had never even sat in an M6 because I thought that, at least for the next 10+ years that I couldn't afford it. And now it is in my garage.... Still in SHOCK. I turned in my SG/IR SMG E46 M3 yesterday. I love the E92 but the M6 is UNREAL, A BEAST WITH ALL THE TRIMMINGS.

Congrats - nice car. What's your payment and lease term?
Also, you might want to take it to another dealership and get a computer dump to make sure those 114 miles were at least mostly in adherence to the break-in instructions. |

Congrats on your M6.
That said, you bought a car with 114 miles on it which is 2 model years older, and into a platform which was originally overpriced and is supposed to go through a redesign soon, and you are comparing that to a car that was just released, so I am not sure why you are shocked. I agree with mkoesel in that the car could have been driven hard. There will be some solid deals on the M3 in a couple of years...

Wow...good for you
Enjoy your new coupe. 114 miles is very good. It's practically brand new even though its 2 years old. Congrats!

Nice find & congrats! - Irrespective of the fact the M3 is new and is not going to have as good of "deals" as the M5/M6 at this time, you should still be VERY happy with your new M6. Although I'm sure the above-posts are well-intentioned, and while of course everyone on this forum (almost everyone) has a bias toward the M3 vs. M5/M6, you should have no regrets about your decision - the idea of having the M6 right now vs. waiting another 3-4 months for an M3 for the same price (notwithstanding comments above) would definitely be very tempting... Let us know how it drives with the M power engaged (after proper break-in, of course) - those 500 horses should keep you entertained for a long time!!

that car is not new. It's at least 2 years old and could be close to 3 years old depending on production date (I believe a 06 could have been produced as early as 8/05).
That's 2 years to almost 3 years with out being driven. That means the oil and brake fluid and tranny fulid etc. has been sitting in the car all this time. I don't mean this is a bad car but don't think it's a new car just b/c it has few miles. You can find the production date should be located on the inside door. It doesn't matter since you are leasing, it would matter more-so if you were planning to buy with resale to worry about. as long a it's under warranty for the length of the lease you should be fine. |

awesome find... the m6 is a really great car but i prefer smaller cars so i'd still go for the m3.... the m6 is a GT car and not really a track machine so as long as youre not planning to bring it to the track, i think the m6 will satisfy all your cravings. congrats on the car anyway! i am sure you'll have a ton of fun in it!

I am kind of set on the M3 but I do believe the M6 is a better car. especially with status and rarity.
I am not sure, I thought the M6 has smaller rear seats than the 3-series. I don't want anything with smaller rear seats, but many people don't care about that. Good luck. I do wonder why the car has not sold yet? Is it certain this was not a car that was previously sold and returned for some reason? Something to ask about. I do not understand leases, but if you do it certainly seems as if this is a good deal or the M3 is a bad lease deal or both. |

Congrats... It is rare to find a 2 year old car with that few miles... so that is a good find.... just remember, be expecting to pay a ton for gas since that thing is a thristy beast... even as compared to the mighty thirsty M3 as well.....

Personally I would have held out for the M3, it's got the better balance, practicality, looks and residuals. But there is no denying that the appeal of all that performance the big M6 has and the thing still handles really well for a big girl.
I think the colour combination looks brill and at the price you are not the one taking the hit as it's already been taken by the dealer, so good luck and happy motoring. |

is the car's warranty previously "punched" or did it come with a full term warranty? in any case, nice deal, I drove a M6 last week, fantastic motor and interior.
