Go for it. Obviously DIY is way cheaper than paying someone to do a job! Labor rates are over $200 an hour for most shops now so your time may be worth less. The M3 is a $60-70k car, I don't mind spending some money on maintenance.

I did my share of reflector housing to projector HID upgrades back in late 90s and early 00s. Looks cool but very time consuming if you want to do a quality job.

I probably live in one of the most expensive places labor wise and I have yet to see a.$200/hr labor charge outside of a dealership. $125 to $150 usually. Just had a far tougher job - ac compresssor replacement done at $120 / hr.

I am glad for people that pay $2000 for headlight replacements - keeps the small guys in business with those margins but that is just terrible return on investment.

The range is pretty wide for auto shops... It really depends on where you go. In the San Francisco area, where I'm at, you can get anywhere from $62 to $288 an hour for a basic repair on a Chevy based on this survey they did based on 500 shops in the area. This isn't even a specialized job like a headlight retrofit.

I just DIY'd a clear bra install and that saved me a few thousand dollars in labor so I totally get the reason to do so - but that's 2 days of my time gone.

Will these work on an 08 e90? Or does it have to be an LCI car? I am looking on Amazon now (for fastest shipping via Prime) and getting mixed opinions.

All M3 have the same headlight from 08 through 13. e90 non-M3 have a different headlight design.
