Clutch Slip.. DCT overheat

Hi All, at a recent air strip event I put the boot into it a little and noticed a couple of things.

Firstly my LC is way too high at 5.5k and I'm in the process of getting that coded to 3.5k.

The clutch seems to be slipped as I hit fourth gear but wheel speed doesn't reflect that.

The GB then overheated (understandably), I've read about the oversized Gintai DCT oil pan, anyone else tried to overcome this issue.

Let me know what you think.

Mate! They get hot and go into limp mode. It's a known/desired issue. The only way you can really combat this is via aftermarket cooling methods.

I know there's a higher capacity tank from Gintani, I also believe there's an additional heat exchanger as well, but I could be wrong.

Yes I've seen the gintani thread on the tank.. interested if there are any other tried and true solutions.

Also interested to hear if people think that much clutch slippage is normal.

Yea, that LC is set high, wow. Was this the first LC, or were a bunch done before hand?

Once it cools down, see how bad shift lag is in regular street and some spirited driving. Like others have said, it might be time to replace the DCT clutch pack. Also might want to consider an aftermarket DCT trans cooler.

Tell me more about the clutch pack.. OEM or upgraded? Might start with the pan (more fluid, better heat transfer) or at least claimed without stats to back it up I notice.

I'd avoid the SSP stuff, the only confirmed upgraded DCT clutches are LM's Evolve M3 (http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1114060) with the Dodson clutches. If you upgrade the cooling though, you should be fine with the OEM clutches.

From what I gather, because there is not a single user review of cars running with them.
Where-as the Dodson set has put a few thousand miles on and tested them with multiple 60-130's and at the drag strip.

Gintani or SSp cooling stuff will probably work well, but the clutch's themselves only dodson is proven

There are many cars running the SSP clutch upgrades. Most of our customers are not forum goers. Here is a recent post from a Singapore customer with a M6 Grandsport. Upgrades (NOS, and Meth Kit)

Try DCT software if you have not already. I have been to many track / race events with ESS cars and never seen this be an issue. I believe dlsj5 runs stock clutch and DCT software on his 700 whp ESS setup and he has no issues with his transmission. If the issue persists then you might need a new clutch.
